Mic Catching Breathing

Anybody have any tips on what I can do to minimize how much of my breath my mic catches (besides moving it a little away from your mouth)? I'm using the Sena 10c boom mic but no matter what I do i keep hearing my obnoxious breathing sounds. ANybody have any ideas? I'm also considering a different mic all-together since at higher speeds I keep getting lots of wind buffeting inside the helmet

The direction matters too.

Point it away from your mouth/nose and you will still pic up great audio from your speech and the bike with less wind noise from your face holes.

Definitely will give it a try. Any pointers on the second part of my question? I live in South Florida and the highways are traveled pretty fast by traffic (average is 80mph). It becomes very difficult to hear the voice as the wind just really picks up. Do you think this'll help with the issue or am I looking at needing to purchase a few extra items like a chin curtain (or even a different mic) to correct this? I have vid's that illustrate the issue if you want to see them

hmmm might be difficult with the Sena, but what ive done in the past is this:
Get an old teddy bear or something like that, the fluffier the better, take its leg or arm or whatever (remove any foam inside it) and put that over the top of the mic and the original mic foam, this acts as a professional boom mic cover, thus having 2 covers, the first stops most of the wind noise and the second helps with the sound, its worked for me, might have to try a few teddies to get the right result though hahaha!

Teddy bear dismemberment may be a bit harsh, can't we all just get along? :(

This might sound weird but what I did was take a kitchen sponge and cut a slit out and shove my mic, with the orignal foam part on it, inside of the sponge. It's not too bad. It's still a little more wind than Id like, but it's better.

ANy tips on a wired mic along with a G9 scala rider? My scala rider's mic is on a velcro in the middle of my mouth on the helmet. The mic is just beside it... but it seems to catch my breathing from time to time.

My helmet also doesn't have a chin guard and it is an Icon Alliance helmet.

Thanks!

Definitely need to use a dead cat, you can get really creative. Dan recommended an old sponge (cut a chunk and shape it to cover the mic) and that I still use in my moto helmet with some extra material picked up from Michaels crafts...

here's the vid of it with some pics as well

Other options would be to:
1) Don't breathe
2) Breathe, but do it Vader style
3) Place some tape on the sponge area that is closes to your nose
4) Use your video editor to clear away the unwanted sound

Try different methods and see which shows promising results, good luck!

I got a lot of breathing when walking around when i get off the bike.... one day il put it all together and drop cal sexy ladies!

I do get some breathing in my videos, it is what it is. Same with wind noise. I am still trying to get it together myself after some vlogs, but it's going to be a while before that happens. Right now I have my setup about as good as it can get with the equipment I have.

My microphone is towards the left in front of the cheekpad. No direct breathing on it, but sometimes it does catch it. Mainly when the bike is off though, not as much whilst riding, as the wind noise and bike noise kinda drown it out.

Another option for a DIY wind sock is a sponge paint brush. They are super cheap like $1 for an entire pack and all you have to do is pull the handle out and there will be a slot or hole left for the mic to go in. Works like a charm.

I've found some of it has to do with your camera. I use the Sony Action can and I noticed when my bike is off I sound like Darth Vader. When its running you can hardly hear my breathing. My mic is taped to my nose piece in my SS1100
