Making Some Effort For 2016

Ok I've hit the wall of frustration.

There are a couple of things that are getting to me at the moment so I'm just going to vent.

1. I have no time to edit. I really want to improve my editing to try to keep people watching but I'm just time poor. I can really only do it late at night when the kids are asleep.

2. Social media is pissing me off. I really feel like I'm getting forced to work within other people's rules about where you should post. In particular reddit. When I get a post there I get more views than anywhere else that's before some nazi deletes it. It's clear that the audience there is interested in what I'm posting so I'm just hoping they sub (I've got a 48 hour ban at the moment too)

3. I always knew I'd never have rapid growth, but I kinda thought I'd be doing a little better by now. Maybe it's because I haven't really evolved my craft much because of point 1.

And finally.

4. I'm not riding as much. My wife has changed jobs which means I'm on child pickup / drop off most days. I can really only ride 1-2 days a week which means I really have to decide between a vlog video or a ride video.

I'm thinking at the end of the year I'll take a break from weekly videos and really try to improve the production quality of what I'm doing.

1. I feel you on that. What I try to do is carve out an evening that I dump my cards and edit like 2 or 3 vlogs, upload, make thumbnails, write out descriptions and set to post for the week. It's the only way I would be able to do as much as I do. I currently am trying to release 2-3 videos per week and it's a job....

2. Forget Reddit, they suck, we know this. I am still trying to find my place within social media using Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, but it's just as slow going as Youtube which also sucks. I got a small jump when joining up here (thank you wonderful people for subbing) but beyond that I'm stuck as well. Just gotta grind on. Another project of mine I've been doing for just about a year now and I somehow have passed 600 followers on Twitter, but I'm putting out 100-250 tweets a month and using a lot of hashtags and getting a lot of RTs from people. My current mission is to follow as many people on Twitter as possible and start sharing and RTing people's stuff in hopes for the same from them. We'll see how that works.

3. I will admit I haven't gone back too far on your Vlogs, but I totally will when I have the time. I know mine probably aren't the best, but I can at least let you know what I think of your progress over time. You should always be looking to improve a little each video. You also have to remember that building up an audience in anything you do on the internet takes a looooooong time. I can't count how many projects I started and ended up letting die just because I got discouraged at the lack of growth. But the ones I stuck to grew little by little. At the end of the day though if you are doing this for subs and internet fame you're going to burn yourself out. You just have to do what you love to do and let the people come on their own. Enjoy it, don't make it a job!

4. I feel you on this one as well. I do most of my vlogs to and from work, which is probably boring for most people, but I do what I can. Just try to carve out a little time for a long ride, shoot 2 or 3 vlogs in one sitting and edit. That will allow you more content, but only one day of the week that you had to ride.

Keep your head in the game man! We are all in the same boat at different levels, but we all know it takes a long time to get somewhere. Just remember to have fun because once you start stressing over stuff that's when it becomes a job and not fun any more.

So after getting banned from reddit, I thought I might see what the advertising over there has to offer.

And once again it's basically nothing. Lots of impressions, next to no clicks and another $10 wasted.

Only real goal I have it to eventually get to 1k subs, but I have never set a time to do that.

Don't worry I just film edit and upload, and the way I schedule my vids, I've forgotten about them by the time they are released.

This thread was more about letting others see what has worked and what hasn't.

As for the money part, its not something I'm worried about, I spend more money on lunch in a week than I have all year on youtube stuff.

Thanks for posting all this. Finding time to ride is my biggest issue also and like you editing is a night time only thing once the wife and little one goes to bed.
Keep up the good work 1140% growth in a year is impressive!
