Lets Talk Mic Placement!

Whats up guys, so Im just curious about mic placement on your helmets? What works best for you on the type of helmet that you use. I have a ICON Armada and am trying to find the best mic placement. Tell me the best placement(better yet, let me see them)

Inside the cheekpad tends to work best, but make sure you keep it away from the helmet to avoid bassy rumbling.

See my latest video for an example of what that sounds like.
Are you talking like, cut into the pad, or behind the pad?

I was about to take pictures to show my mic placement but the helmet is dirty, absolutely disgusting. I thought about cleaning it but it has been raining for weeks.
Back to the topic, the mic is behind the cheekpad, a little bit back at the height you have the front vent open/close thingy.

Dammit!, it's best with a picture.

Please wait here. I'll be back.

Apologies for the disgusting dirty helmet.

*excess cable is tucked in there.

I use clear "3M Packing tape, general use". I cut small, narrow but long pieces to stick the mic cable then there is a big square of tape to stick the USB cable when I'm feeding external power to the camera.
It is that big piece of tape making the mess near the helmet logo in the back.

Helmet doesnt look that dirty to me. Maybe I have low standards
I did everything to avoid photographing the inside liners and cheekpads. I didn't even knew they were so dirty.

each helmet is different...I find in my MX helmet right in front works the best while in my snowmobile helmet the cheek pad is the best location...definitely have to try it a few different ways!
