Laptop Upgrade Advice

Isn't the Surface Pro the only one that runs full Windows therefore allowing installation of non-Store items, and the Pro being quite pricey?

You can be sure of one thing with Apple, prices will never drop in a hurry :)

I think the laptop will only fade for people who are in to social media. I have had several tablets, netbooks, desktop pc's, and even macbooks. That being said the only use I ever have for the ipad that I have now is to surf the web or check the weather, etc.

I am about to buy another laptop to have the full capabilities and power that I need.

I pretty much use a desktop for most things... I do it for processor power and storage. Laptops like to ration processing power for battery life and tablets... how are you supposed to edit a video there, seriously o_O ? I can pinch and swipe all I want, but that won't get me to where I want to on five different layers of video :p .

I took a brief look at that blog post... seems to be skewed more towards the Windows market. Truth-be-told, I didn't read it... but at the same time I didn't find anything mentioning Apple in it, except for a link on the bottom telling me that one of their most popular articles are a guide to top-rated MacBook Air Alternatives :p ~

Honestly, iPads, tablets and the like are beginning to turn more into iFabs because of their limits. If things change in the future, then maybe... but until they are able to invent a flying tablets, then it's my guess, too, that full-version OS's will reign supreme.

Two cents - that's all ;) .....

Yep, Pro 1/2/3 are all full laptops with a tablet form factor. Perfect for my job as iOS/Android tablets are pretty derp for anything that's not consumption related :)

Ok I think I've found what I'm going to buy just can't decide between the two brands. Both are gaming pc laptops both run i7 with 8gb ram and both have a 1tb hdd. Pretty much equal on specs.

Not really going into specifics on the specs but what I want to know is which brand is known to be better as I want something that will last. One is a Lenovo and the other is an ASUS.

Too late I literally just bought the ASUS PC. Nothing against macs I like them as well but for the money I got what seemed like a better deal. The one I bought is 15" i7 8gb ram and 1tb hdd blah blah blah

Long story short I think I found one that is fast enough to run the software that I need and do it fast.

Looking to get a new laptop I really like the macbook pro but is it really worth the money?

I want something powerful enough for video editing but don't want to break the bank.

Any recomendations would help I am a Macbook pro fan but I am open to PC if the price is better with some insane specs. I want speed and want to be able to render some decent video edits without lag during edit.

All depends- MACBOOKs are great, but so are many PC options. Don't get a MACBOOK just to edit motovlogs.

Just remember that a laptop i7 is like a crippled desktop i5, so don't expect blistering performance.

In terms of brands, businesses generally use Lenovo because they're reliable and tough machines.

I had a MacBook Pro 15" and edited with FCPX, which I loved. But it started making stupid things, crashing, ... And "just" 1080p 60fps. I sold it and bought an MSI with i7, 8GB, nVidia GTX870M and so on. Can't edit with Final Cut no more, which I loved, but now I have no problems with crashing whatsoever. I got it for 1000€ and it's way more powerful that the MacBook you can get with that money. Good luck with your decision!

This thread is a little old now. I bought a new ASUS with pretty much the same specs you mentioned. It does a great job.
