Correct, I think it is a TRS connector. That is the type of cables I used when I hooked everything up. As explained in earlier posts. Quite a lot to read on this thread.

Could be your adapter, I know I had an issue getting a trs mic to work with what on the outside looked like a mini connector trs, but wasn't, I needed to use a trs to ts adapter to even get it to work. Or even the camera, pretty sure that wad my issue.

I've not had the chance to test it yet as the 2.5-3.5mm adaptor only just arrived. I will def add my experience to this thread regarding that, and now I have the adaptor, I can also try a spare Sena mic as they are really tidy and small inside the chin piece

Its a tight fit But it goes in. I can‘t remember if made the hole bigger

For a dead cat replacement I like the Bestshoot MW-1. For the black blimp, I'm not sure yet, my kit came with two and I am currently on the second one. Once I lose that I probably need to go hunting for a new one. You might be able to use the Tetra-Teknica XFFZ5P-BLK but I think that one is a little bigger than the stock Panda black blimp.

I reckon the 2.5-3.5mm adaptor I was using is a mono to stereo one - I have no idea as it's been in my drawer for years.

Ah, so you were running into the same problem I was running into with the sound being on only one channel when played back? Or this is just by observation of the rings or lack of rings on the mics connector?

I tested it on my audio recorder, only a single channel. It has enough rings to do stereo/dual channel audio.

I have video footage I am working on that has sound from the Interphone Prosound Microphone, and actually at under 40 mph it sounds fine accept it is only coming out of the left ear (mono). If I were to do a video about it, should I mix it into dual mono (L + R) on my editing software or leave it in the left ear for dramatic true review effect? On the other-hand, I could take a hybrid approach and start the video off with the sound from the raw output which is the left mono channel as it comes off the microphone then maybe 10 seconds into the video, mix the sound into both (L + R) channel for a better overall video feel. What do you guys think?

I'd suggest going duel channel to start with, and then explain that it only works in mono unless you convert it, then maybe show the workflow on converting it?

Oh man, now were going into How-to tutorial video territory, Ha ha. That is a different format than I am used to for the YBGuy channel. Have to think a little longer about that one. Thanks for the feedback Hippo.

If you look at stat on vlogs vs how to vids or review vids... you will see it is worth making a video just for that stat.... you won't even need to share it anywhere if you label it right, give it a good description and decent tags.... will be a gold mine for views if done right!

Yeah, I noticed a lot of videos on how to do stuff garner a lot of views.

FWIW, I just posted my MotoVlog Intro on YouTube, which uses the GoPro Hero 8, Media Mod, and a Purple Panda mic with the dead cat installed, clipped to my t-shirt collar underneath my riding jacket.

Up until now, I've been recording with my mic (w/dead cat) clipped to my t-shirt collar, then my riding jacket over it (mesh, no liner).

Now that it's getting colder, I wear a sweatshirt over my t-shirt, and a mesh jacket with liner over that.

The audio I got today was horrible (IMO) - nasally and muffled voice, but everything else sounded good.

I'll be riding to work tomorrow, so I'll take the long way and re-record the same topics, but I'm going to not zip up my sweatshirt the whole way and see if that helps.

Anyone else have this problem?

I do not have my mic setup the way you do. But I have found good luck putting it inside my helmet and making sure I have a good dead cat around it. I have a post on this forum with a picture of my setup. I will try and find it.

That looks like a full face helmet - I am using a half helmet. If I wasn't, audio would be much easier.

Alright, my winter jacket, with a liner of course, caused a ton of audio issues. It ruined a few recent vlogs I filmed - ARGH! Anywho, I did a bunch of testing over the last couple of days, and I've got a video I'm putting together of OVER TEN different tests of mic placement and jacket/sweatshirt zipped up versus unzipped...

It's a quick one (about 6.5 minutes long) but goes through a TON of stuff related to mic placement, and at the end I show the setup I'm running with right now.

Quick & Dirty Version:
Half helmet, purple panda lapel mic actually clipped to my chin strap near my left ear pad - and audio is EXCELLENT (IMO), even compared to my previous favorite setup.

Of course, this is only on my Street Glide, and I haven't tested it on other bikes yet, but it requires 0 effects in post to get good, clean voice. There's hardly any wind noise, too!

If anyone wants to see the final vid, I can embed it in a post somewhere (Hippo, where ya want it, if at all?) once I upload to YT.
