How Long Till Your First 1000 Followers?

I opted for a non scheduled channel for the time being, even although I know they recommend to do it, however I am not prepared to commit to something without identifying how far I am likely to take my channel, especially as I am still finding my identity and refining my content. Ultimately, I would rather establish over time what best suits if that's the way I want to go. I've seen so many you-tubers, break from schedule because they over commit and I think then what happens is people (subscribers) loose interest, the channel looses subscriptions which in turn tends to bring the channel to an end as the owner is the owner usually looses interest.

I have only as of this weekend created a trailer for my channel, been mulling over for quite a while how I want to do it. Let me know what you think?

Looks nice!
I’m also just going with the flow. I know that if I put myself on a schedule it won’t work :p

Is Thursday doing any good to you? I'm thinking of doing 2min mondays instead of releasing a full vlog episode (on monday like i've been doing for the past few weeks) and doing the full one on Saturday or Thursday. Any input? Thanks

Seems to work ok. ive not tried weekend release yet would be interested to see how much difference it makes I dont think it would make much tho as once a vids up people will view it as and when they are online and looking. just had one of my Tuesday releases go over the 1000 view mark a good portion of those views were over the weekend. so yeah I think its more keeping to a consistant upload schedule rather than what days that matters but if anyone finds otherwise I would be interested to hear.

Two videos a week? Is it a schedule? If you can commit to it, that's fine, but make sure you can keep that commitment for long term. Otherwise perhaps cutting it down to one a week or one every 2 weeks gives you time to gather various shots/content and edit them nicely giving better all-round quality per post.

Yeah 2 a week is a comfortable number for me I have a full time job but im lucky enough to get alot of free time so do the vlog, reviews etc and still have time to spend with the other half and dog :) I do love it tho every day I learn more about editing etc and each vid gets that little bit better :)

I've started doing a 2Minute Monday and a full episode on Friday or Saturday. Seems like a nice balance.

I think I'll be lucky to hit 1000 in a lifetime.... my other channel has taken 4 years+ to get 100 subs! :D

SAME!!!!

Haha I'm not too bothered on sub count but when you have been doing it for a little bit it can be tough when you count is quite low,

Especially when people start and 2 weeks later they are on 1000+ Subs with only 2videos you think WTF>????

you'd get even more if you did something like 2 stoners 1 pot. or 3 toilets 1 butt.
Basically the shitter your video content is the more likes you get. Stupid people are attracted to stpuid shit. That's why vines get so many views

This is so true... I think the most viewed video on YT is still this Korean guy riding an airhorse on some music.

That explains my low sub count haha ---

I have to somewhat disagree with vines.

I mean most are garbage, but there are a lot from certain creators that are Bill and Ted level genius

I've only got like 56 subs to my YT channel, this is after 6 years, but of course my upload schedule was basically once a year.

I've kind of self-handicapped though as my social networking presence is very limited, not having a Facebook, or Instagram account, and not really leveraging my Twitter.

Signing back on to Facebook is not very appealing to me, and G+ is kind of a weird thing that I just don't seem to understand.

Luckily, this is more a (getting very expensive) hobby, but at least my wife is on-board, she seems to like my vlogs.

lol, i only have 64 subs... but i think they're old inactive accounts because my view count never reflects. Either that or they're an audience of other videos i try to produce.. OR my content just sucks lol.. Which increasingly bad for me as i'm trying to build my channel based on motovlogs as a primary source of content :(

I've looked into pretty much all motovlog tips from content, topics all the way to branding. But i genuinely believe what draws viewers and subs in is quantity and not quality at the early stages. - If you're a regularly uploading then they're more likely to subscribe as you will keep them entertained longer... then in the later stages when you have a loyal sub count.. quality steps in over quantity... thats my take on it anyway.

I've set meyself the goal to do it by the end of the year. It's a massive ask as it means roughly 100 subs a month to even get close.
