I use Sony Vegas Pro just wondering how others learned to use some of the more in depth programs. I am pretty tech savy but have trouble in areas like pop up pictures such as meme/troll faces and things. I also want to learn useful tips I cant even think of or think to look for. So how did you learn just try and fail in the program, tutorials, or other ways

Thanks to both of you i thought i could probably youtube it but didnt know if others had done so and found some videos better than other thanks for the help!

Youtube is the best, doesn't matter which program you use. And they teach you some useful polishing techniques too

Mostly self taught through trial and error. If I'm really stuck or want to try and do something specific then I sometimes Google or YouTube it for the answer, if there is one.

I learnt mostly by myself with alot of hatred and anger for the software then i realised the wonderful world of tutorials on youtube.

Learning by testing and solving problems mostly. Also got some formal education via Uni which helps.
I use mostly Adobe software for everything, so that helps too, since they structure things somewhat similarly between their different softwares.

I have a subscription to Lynda.com, I did the 9 hr FCPX course and it was great for a total idiot / beginner

Time for me to hit up YouTube just have to decide which software first I have Adobe Premier Pro and Sony Vegas Pro 10 I think?

Trial and error. Otherwise when u get stuck there are plenty of tutorials on the net!
Probably the best way. As long as you know how to drag and drop, can find the blade/cut tool and delete what you don't want, the rest kinda falls in to place with most editors. For the rest, there's YouTube.

Using premier Pro and self tought, however if there was something I knew could be done but I didn't know how I googled it, there's tons of text +photo tutorials as well as videos for Premier Pro.

I find the best way to learn, for me anyways, is to just try it and see what things do, and if I can use that it to my advantage.

I use Vegas as well to edit. and Before I even started filming any videos, I spent a lot of time with sample clips I downloaded and just played around with the program, seeing what different tools did, filters, etc. If I do want to know how to do something specific, it's off to youtube I go! It's a great resource for learning.

I went to school for it. lol. I use Premiere Pro. Like it's been said already, you can find a tutorial for about anything on YouTube.

It's funny though. The things I learned in school around technique and theory all kinda go out the window with modern social media content. But the technical skill is still a benefit.
