I have a panasonic sdr-s50 that take good video in my hands and been a good camera for home movies. today I mounted it to the bike using the go pro suction cup mount.
it holds the camera tight and it won't drop the camera. but when I start up the bike and right the video is so SHAkEY you can't see anything really headlights look like dancing fireflys and just awful. I do have the O.I.S. turned on but didn't help at all. is it the camera. is there a way to fix the shakeyness. is the camera not a good one for use on the bike.
little help please.

There's always a little shake with onboard mounts, but it sounds like maybe the camera is a bit too heavy for the mount or something. It could also be the frame rate... Sounds to me like you're just out of luck on this one.

Where are you mounting the camera? I find the tank to be the smoothest area to mount a camera...least amount of vibrations...especially if the tank is mounted with rubber bushings and stuff. And it does sound like your handheld could be too heavy as well

I have a 07 zx14 had it mounted on the tank. I also mounted it on behind the seat facing backwards.
camera isn't really heavy in my hand but it could just be boned.

Compare it to the GoPro that those mounts are meant to be holding up. You -might- have better luck if you fashion a mount yourself and bolt it to something solid, like the frame. To be honest though, I've known a few people to try to use camcorders similar to yours, and none of them have succeeded. I think you're trying to use the wrong tool for the job.

so if it is shakey would i want to have more frames per second or less like if i have my camera set at 30 frames per second would i want to change it to like 60 frames per second to reduce the shakeyness

Eh, it kinda depends on a lot of different factors. All I could really say is mess with it and see what happens. Try it with every different frame rate you've got access to. The effect is going to be a little different for every bike and camera combo, though it will probably work out to be that a higher frame rate means a smoother video.

The camera is not a good one for the bike...I have tried with such cameras in the past, its a no go and there isn't much you can do about it....

A lot of the comments are true. The GoPro mount is not made to hold the weight of the type of camera. the suction cup just isn't powerful enough to keep it steady. Also the image stabilization for that camera has been produced to stabilize movement of the human hand and not the vibration of the motorcycle or the buffeting of the wind. So mounting it on the bike with that mount is a lost cause sorry to say. You would have to look into bigger mounts and that may cost as much as a helmet type camera like the GoPro, though it is a great camera to get off bike shots like ride by's, take offs and other shots known as bike porn. Ive seen guys who have made mounts for this camera for their helmets but in the end it looks ridiculous and the amount of mods you would have to do to your helmet isn't worth it and it becomes unsafe. I wish i could give u better news Snakeman.
