Hardware Build---need Recommendations

Before my SSD took a dump (yes this can happen), I took my prod files and had them on the local drive and once I was done & uploaded pushed them off to file storage.

I've just been lazy lately and kept the mech drive in there, the latency is noticeable mostly when I'm running split screen.

I wish I had the time and skill to build my own computer. I just got the iMac 5k and a 8TB G-raid external drive. 1TB flash storage and 32 GB of RAM. I can't edit on my Macbook Pro anymore. The 5k makes it look like a toy:)

As for rendering I never had a problem. FCPX renders as I go. It eats up a bunch of GB, but I just delete the render files when I'm done.

yeah, but at the times I have, once I hit render, I cant use my computer anymore. And i definitely wont have time to upload the video till the next day! thats not fun!

Sure, I could hit render and walk away, but when I get done doing everything i do for the day, I want to relax, watch some movies etc. cannot do that when a video is rendering as my computer is so slow.

So saying render times don't matter, well that's a little silly. why not have a computer that you can render video in as little time as possible?
I concur.

**UPDATE**

Took the plunge. Went for a custom ASUS desktop. Running I7, 16Gram, 1TBharddrive, 500HD solidstate, and NVDIA760 or 780 I cant remember graphics. I also got Adobe premier. I rendered by test video on 2minutes in about 3 secs!

She is a monster and cost me $$$... but so worth it! Can't wait to starting learning after effects.
