Gopro + Sena Questions

Hey guys I've been trying to figure out a GoPro solution and have a few questions

Ive seen that SENA has a BT adapter that you attach to the back of the gopro.

My question is where does your voice audio come from, as I've seen some Motovloggers (EN187) Hardwired his by using a dremel and plugging in a Microphone and wiring it into the Helmet.

My question is would buying the BT adapter mean that the Mic that I plug into my Sena 20s be the voice thats recorded onto the gopro?

It seems like the easier/better solution than using a dremel to plug in a mic manually, and if I do plug in a mic manually what does that mean for the mic plugged into the Sena20s?

Would I have two mics running or does somehow the mic thats plugged into the gopro take over the Sena20s?

It just gets a little confusing with all the variations of set ups.

I basically want to eliminate wind noise (from the research I've done its better to buy a mic as the ones that come with the Sena are not Ideal for motorvlogging), be able to record me and sometimes friends convos, maybe the music I'm listening to (is there a way to remove the music and add music while video editing?) and hear my bike and other sounds around me well, but no wind noise.

Thanks.

I've never heard or seen this BT (BlueTooth) adapter for the Sena. Would you even need one considering the Sena is BlueTooth anyway?

As for eliminating wind noise. You can't. Not fully anyway and the amount of wind noise you get will depend on what helmet you have and where the mic is mounted inside the helmet.

Its a BT Adapter for your go pro, you plug it into the back of your gopro and it records Audio from your mic onto the GoPro's SD card. So you can hear your voice over the video. But I also wanted to know does it also pull audio from the GoPro's mic? Or Just your microphone - I'm trying to give the best experience of hearing my bike when running up the RPMS etc, as well as conversations with other riders, or if I do some interaction with the public etc.

Just trying to find the right set up for my needs as I know some motovloggers manually wire a mic into their GoPro, and some have mentioned using the Sena BT Adapter (which goes onto the gopro)

Can't help you there. Sorry. Never heard of this adapter so wouldn't be able to tell you what it records.

I have a Drift Ghost S and was recording audio from 2 separate microphones (for a day as one broke lol) simply by using a 3.5mm splitter plugged into the Drift and then 2 microphones plugged into the splitter. Audio from both was being recorded. I had one inside the helmet for when I talk and one in my inside jacket pocket which picked up the exhaust sound nicely. Worked quite well but my £1 microphones fell apart.

Now I could have one microphone positioned to pick up my voice and the other tucked up next to the Sena speaker so that it could pick up the chatter from anyone I'm connected to and when not needed simply unplug that mic from the splitter. Maybe something like this would be an option for you?

Possibly, but I think there is a better one out there, thanks for your outlook and insight! Much appreciated! I dont think I'll need to put a mic near the ear phones though, as I know for a fact Sena has integrated the communication between riders, to be able to be recorded onto the gopro!

gopro sena backpack?

it has its own mic, it replaces the gopro mic. You can turn the internal mic on and off (leave it off, it's garbage)

then it bluetooth hooks up to your sena, and uses your sena's mic

downsides: your phone and your gopro can't both be connected. Either you got tunes, or you got the gopro.

it covers the rear screen.
the case it comes with, though waterproof, is cheezy and not nearly as durable as the gopro ones.
and the USB dongle it uses to connect is stupid and makes the whole apparatus wider.

that being said, if you have a SENA, the HD audio mode is awesome and it's the easiest plug and play vlogging solution provided you already own a sena.

Thanks man great answer, why do people hardwire a mic in? and how do the connect it to their bluetooth and sena head set? I want to be able to record convos with friends onto the gopro, and possibly music if im listenining to it. Although I see some motovlogers listening to their music and just vlogging without hte music being on to gopro so I might be fine with that

The Bluetooth backpack is the Sena GP10. It's not too bad, it just still acts a little glitch, especially when the battery starts running down. I like it and it does make things a little simpler, just turn it on and start recording.

They are still coming out with updates for it, when I first got it the sound was delayed over 1 second. Found a deal for $100, so its very affordable and might be exactly what you need.
