Hi community!
I was wondering what your workflow is looking like when using your GoPro HERO 4.(and specifically when using a Mac) I am looking for the best settings when rendering to preserve best quality, highest resolution and buttery smooth 60fps to upload it to YouTube.
I see some of the peeps first converting their files in the GoPro studio app, prior to importing and editing in Final Cut Pro X, but as far as i can see it does not make any difference, but it really takes a lot longer to proces. I import it straight from the SD card into FCPX. After that i use Compressor for a 1080p 60fps 19000 bitrate render. This looks like the video below

Really curious to your thoughts and workflow!

That seems about right. If FCP can now decode the GoPro H.264 files on-the-fly, then go with that and just let FCP handle the transcoding. Saves a step. Your settings and bitrate looks fine. Just be sure to use 2-pass VBR encoding for the best quality.

i import my gopro vids to imovie then compress it with handbrake and took its from 26gb to 1gb and still kept a high quality 1080p 60fps and only took about 30minutes to upload the 12minute video to youtube
