GoPro 2.7k to 1080 Downsample?

Hey all, I was wondering, does anyone shoot with a GoPro in 4k and down sample to either 2.7 or 1080? The file sizes are a bit obnoxious (not really, but eh), and my rig isn't strong enough to render and play 2.7k video. I've been down sampling my 2.7k vids to 1080 for editing, and the picture quality looks much more crisp.

What are your settings? I've not had an experience with other action cameras. Are all the file sizes the same?

I record in 2.7k 60 and render at 2.7k. I'd use 4k if I could get Superview and 60fps, but I'd not downscale it, would just render it at 4k. Battery life is an issue at 2.7k+ but I have spare batteries so just have to remember to change them regularly! :-)
I tried using 2.7k and downscaling it to 1080 and it looked as bad on YouTube as it would have done had I recorded it at 1080, so I just go large!

I go the other way. 1080p60 and render it as 4k so YouTube allows the higher bitrate. Kind of like going around the YouTube throttling the 1080.

It does take a whole lot of data and time though.

Hmm interested. I haven’t done a side by side comparison of 2.7 and 1080 of a vid I’ve recorded on YouTube. There was or were some other videos that did a side by side comparison and zoom test... I may just record in 1080 at 60 or 120 for easier editing.
