Hi All,

New to the vblogging scene and I need some help.

Purchased a Ghost HD and I just need some advise on what are the best settings for the following:
1. Doing a long trip +- 2 hours long

and what is a decent editor to use, at the moment I downloaded 'Lightworks'

Cheers

Use a 16GB card at least and choose your resolution according to what view angle you want. In terms of file size, it doesn't matter, both formats eat up the same space on the card.
Also before going on your trip, test how much the camera battery lasts. Charge the battery, insert an empty card and put the camera in record mode and see how much time it works before running out of battery.
If the battery runs out earlier than expected, you should get a spare battery and replace it before the one on the camera runs out or you should consider powering the camera using an external source (bike's electricity or external charger).

A decent editor, mmm, if you want something super easy to use but more powerful than WMovieMaker, try Corel VideoStudio.
Then you have the big names like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. Between the two, I prefer Premiere because I found it easier to handle and to get the results I want while having no previous experience at all with the software, something I couldn't do with Vegas.

Hi Shirou,

Thanks for the reply, I've got a 32GB card plus a extra battery, more trying to find out about the mode settings should I rather use when doing a video e.g. Full video or time lapse or photo burst.

Thanks for the recommendations around the editing

Cheers

Use the plain video mode (green light on the remote). Don't bother with the advanced functions like flashback or timelapse.
Timelapse just takes a picture every few seconds, does not record video. After you take all pics you want, you can merge them into a video. It's a good way to record very slow action (like the movements of the clouds).
Burst is another picture mode, as far as I know, it takes a number of pictures, one after another in a small amount of time.

A good setting to use is 1080p, 30fps and adjust the exposure or light mode according to your riding conditions (if you're riding at night or not). I don't recommend the ghost to record night footage because it looks too dark and blocky.
If you don't plan on editing and uploading your content at 1080p (FullHD) just use 720p and 60 fps.
In 720p the field of view is fixed at 170°, in 1080p you can choose between 90°, 127° and 170°. 170 is a very wide field, 90° is like a normal camera.
