Hey guys, so my setup consists of a chin-mounted GoPro HD Hero 2 with a lapel mic on the inside of the helmet. But I need help diagnosing my GoPro problem before I can start vlogging. Hopefully some of you might have some experience or ideas to solve the situation.
So here's the issue. I bought a used GoPro HD Hero 2 from Amazon and once I got it I began charging it with a 5 volt 1 amp wall charger as required. The red light came on and everything seemed to be going fine but it failed to go off after 3 hours which is an hour longer than should have been necessary. Yet I couldn't get it to turn on no matter what I tried. However, whenever I'd try turning it on while on the charger it would respond by cutting out the red light for a second, like it was trying to turn on, but would fail and the charging light would come back on. After a couple hours I gave up and decided to just leave it on the charger a couple more hours. This time it turned on but the battery icon was displaying that it was minutes away from dying. So I shut it off and turned it on 5 or 6 times and scrolled through menus and even took a picture and a video just before it died. Everything seemed to be working fine and the photo and video looked fine on my computer. I did this whole process again the next day and got it to turn on briefly again before it died once more. Since then I've decided to leave it alone until I decide a course of action.
So my biggest question now is if it is possible that it could just be that the battery is no longer good? It is GoPro and not aftermarket which leads me to believe it's most likely the original which would now be about 4 years old. But for some reason no one online ever seems to mention that as a possibility on any of the similar issues I've read about. Is that an unusually short lifespan of a GoPro battery? What are your thoughts/experience with this?
