Those of you that use final cut pro x, what are the best setting for file size vs. quality. Setting both when making a new project, and exporting. At the minute I'm ending up with 700MB files and upload times of 250 minutes, for a 10 minute video. With other video editors i've used, my usual upload time has been about 45 minutes, thats still at 720p.

Chessecake, Mate i would recommend Compressor, its a dedicated programme for that purpose. You can get "discounted" versions easily. :D

I would save the file & upload it to YT seperatly.

I either start the file in 1080p, save & upload
or
I start the file as what the drift & editing software reads it as & render it to 1080 or 720p & upload to YT via the site rather than the editing softwares'< if that makes sense?

I am saving it first and then uploading it. I only record in 720p hence only exporting in 720p.

I also have Adobe Media Encoder, so could change the file format with that.
