External Battery on Helmet - Waterproofing

I may have to try out the Max Lens mod... I think I have *all* the other mods LOL. I even got a light mod and a selfie screen mod for the Hero 8. I'm a junkie ROFL.

I started with a Hero 8 with the Media Mod for it, so when I got the Hero 9 I just ordered the Media Mod for it too, since I use an external mic.

I am planning a video wherein I go through all the stuff I've bought to do my videos. It's gonna be extensive, and may span 2 or 3 parts, due to all the crap I've bought. I even got spare feet for the H8 and H9 :p

If you don't have GoPro Max, then you may try Media Mod Lens in Go Pro 9

FWIW, my Hero 8 was plugged into my computer yesterday and for some reason it turned on and started recording. It recorded for 6 hours before I noticed - and was at 100% battery charge... weird!

Thanks Sai390, I may try that, just to see what it does :D

It is something worth remembering thanks :)

Ha ha, 6 Hours marathon Recording..:D Please turn of voice command while connecting with your computer. I think it happens to every one if they forget to switch off voice command.

Dude, already done. I laughed a hearty one when I saw it recording.

I also ran into an issue with voice recording the other day while filming an off-bike scene. I kept saying something (I forget the exact words now) that caused the GoPro to stop recording. After the 2nd time, I just changed the wording for the next take... oops. Forgot about voice activation on that one.

You wanna drive your wife nuts? Take your GoPro to the zoo with her and the kids and take a bunch of photos using the voice activation - after the 10th or 15th time, she was like, "Can't you just push the damn button???" I was getting photos while the GoPro was on a selfie stick.

I stopped using them when I stopped using my GoPro Hero 5 Sessions as you can't charge and record at the same time on the 8
I am curious what you ran into because I charge and record on my Hero8 black at the same time when riding. Otherwise I would have to stop every 30 minutes for swapping the battery.

have you had any issues of it overheating or trashing the external mic adaptor? I have killed several mic adaptors when powering cameras from an external powerbank through the adaptor

Mine gets hot at 2.7kp60 even on just the internal battery. I recall the instructions said something about not using the metal folding mount to hold the camera with our hand due to excessive heat.

I did have one mic adapter get replaced under GoPro's protection plan due to the mic pop but it still worked so I think the tech from GoPro was at a loss why the cameras pop. The swap was an attempt to placate me.

(I still think the popping is camera adjusting the gain too high. Back in a former career those in the job that were mic'ed had a problem with gunshots causing the mics to cut out in the same way on pocket tape recorders.)

Not sure, but after my 6 and 7 going doolally when I tried recording while being powered by a powerbank, I wasn't gonna risk melting down my 8 or 9.
Is odd you get that popping, I don't seem to with either of my 8's, I've not been out with the 9 to test it yet, darn covid restrictions

I was out on the 1st. It was super windy and the pop came back! There was a recent firmware update here.

I am going to try the media mod and see if it does it too then contact GoPro again.
