Editing Software

Used a few different editing software and have settled on Adobe Premiere. No going back now as its just awesome software.

In regards to your blurring question - Premier should be a piece of cake. EN187 has a few videos on how to use Premier, plus a whole host of other tutorials in YT.

I'm using Power Manager 11, it's not bad but sometimes your limited by how basic it is

The beauty of this software is that it does not mind working with heavily compressed file types such as MP4. So your first preview and clip selection process is nice and smooth.
It then only converts your selected frames to AVI for more advanced editing, such as slow motion, transitions and zoom ect...
Unlike Vegas where if you try and run a heavy compressed MP4, you first need to convert the whole video to avi then do you timeline editing...
I just find Gopro Studio more efficient time wise....

I can't do anything involving more than 3 layers in Vegas without using massive video proxies, which is a pain in the arse.

I use CyberLink PowerDirector.

I also use this product. It does everything I need for the budget I have. Lots of options out there.

Yes Avid is available for Mac and its only an NLE. AE and Apple Motion are compositors. Meaning Avid is for editing video. Also Avids platform takes some time getting use to. Use YouTube or some other training to get a handle on it. You wont learn by clicking around.

That price though! What motovlogger has £1,126.80 to spend on editing software? I'm looking more toward the FREE spectrum of things, not thousands of dollars?!

There are some big price tags (in my opinion) for editing software! Though you find a lot of people resorting to cracked/pirated torrent versions of Vegas and Premier. Was considering that option, but not sure of how secure that is for my computer.

Cool alot of people seem to like Vegas Pro, I'm running 12 right now, best money I ever spent. I had Final Cut Pro on my mac from school and I really liked that but I didn't like the Mac so I tossed it and set up Vegas Pro on my PC and as I still learn all the cool things it can do I haven't looked back.

I agree. I was using crappy editing software and once I tried out Adobe Premier Pro theres no going back. It's an awesome program that I definatly recommend. Altho some people might not like the 20 bucks a month. It in my opinion is one of the best out there and worth it.

When it came time to put my own money into a video editing program, I eventually decided on the Corel VideoStudio. It isn't free, but it isn't as expensive as Premiere.

Coming from Premiere, the Corel interface is... lacking. But while it looks primitive, it does just what I need and still comes with a bunch of powerful effects. Especially useful is the proDAD Mercalli SE Video stabilization / rolling-shutter compensation filter. It is really amazing for shaky footage from my motorcycle or drone.
