Editing Software

I use Cyberlink Power director 9. It's a little dated as I think they have released version 12 now but I have extras for version 9 and I find it runs smoother than the others as it puts less strain on the processors etc.
I also have After effects but I rarely ever use it as it can be quite difficult to use to its potential.

It baffles me that nobody is talking about this amazing piece of software.
It is not on reviews, it doesn't show on comparisons between Vegas, Corel, Cyberlink, Adobe...
It's like it never even existed. And it comes from the 90's when VideoStudio was a software from ULead, not from corel. And it ran on Windows 3.1.

You can always edit using the trials. Download premiere trial and edit for a month, then download corel's trial and edit for a month, download GV trial... rinse and repeat.
All editors are basically the same.

Don't forget the soap while rinsing, too ;) !

was using Adobe PP, but my computer SUCKS! I ended up making an intro in After Effects, and having to switch to WMM to finish up my little bits and pieces of my motovlogs. Which, BTW, I just put up! :)

Just moved to premiere pro and love it. A bit of a learning curve but nothing so big that it isn't on YouTUbe

I use Vegas Pro 12 - bit of a learning curve to it, but nothing that can't be solved with YouTube tutorials ;)

I was going to ask the same question. I'm using WMM too simply because it's easy to use and I had no experience editing. Now that I've made a couple dozen vids I think I finally understand the basics now to move on.

I just picked up powerdirector 12, the 2nd from top of the line. I picked it up for $55 on new egg, it was half off. I find it does everything I want it to do, its bundled with a audacity level wav editor. It renders fairly quickly. It comes with access to a ton of online content.

I'm curious as to what you folks use for editing your videos. I use WMM right now, but it's starting to bother me. There's a massive difference between the audio/video timing while editing and while watching the final product outside of the program.

Now, being a broke post-secondary student I'd prefer a free program, but right now anything is better than WMM, I'm starting to realize.
I have always used WMM up until I saw 6Foot4Honda's video on editing software. He uses vegas 10 and he goes through how to do the basics. Since then I downloaded it (for free) and its awesome! check it out and check out his vid on youtube

I've been using Premier and AE a lot for work and other projects, on my mbp, but whenever I can I use Sony Vegas.
It feels much more intuitive to me and I find I have better workflow with it, therefore I can be focused on more creative things.

If Sony makes Vegas for Mac I'd use it full time. You need plugins though.

It all really depends how far you want to go with your edits. You can get one third party program for grading, one for audio plugins for mastering, and another program to add certain effects etc.

I suggest using what you find most comfortable but, also, don't be afraid to learn a program that looks like its hard to master. You can find so much material online these days and learn anything you want to. Its great when you finally learn how to do some cool things and see the results.
