Editing Plates. Why?

I'll Fuzz my plate just because I don't want everyone on youtube to know it... Also some weirdos might get your details (its really easy. - I may have possibly done it to locate a car my granddad used to own :| It takes about 10 mins, you just fill out a form and say they parked on pr.... Ill stop there lol.)

want my opinion? i can understand why you would want to blurr out your plate & i can also understand that if people wanna find you, they will. however, on the legality of the matter, who doesn't enjoy a moment of spirited riding where you might go over the speedlimit just a bit, if your plate is on 1 vid, they can easily track you down. & yes if you are out & about riding around anyone can see it, but i don't think a lot of people look at the plate when they see a bike pass by. so i like to keep my plate of the web because for thieves it makes it easier & gives them the motivation to find you. it's a bit psychological too, if you want to nick a bike and you are given the plate you might be more motivated to go nick it. on the other hand if information is very limited then you might think further, hmm this person is blocking his plate, not showing his face, he probabbly has his bike stored away in a garage with an alarm & a lock on it so it's gonna be to hard for me to nick it... i'm not gonna do it then. blocking your plate is just a form of safety, just like a lock or an alarm on the bike. it helps but it doesn't guarantee that your bike is safe... i block my plate, because i feel safer that way, & if i go a bit hooligan in my vids, i don't need to worry about fines coming in that much.

Not strictly true, the IP can be traced back to your ISP and if you know how to you local exchange, but you can't get any further without access to the ISP database.
So Joe Blogs can't access this information easily.

Also, uploading is not an admission of guilt. Anyone could have been riding your bike. It may have been recorded many years ago. The location may not be clearly identifiable (was it on private land). You need a whole lot of contributing factors for something to hold up in court.... ie if you wheelie across that incorrectly named famous bridge in london surrounded by cars, pull over at the end and show your face on the camera without any cuts in the footage... you may get done.

three reasons.

- anonymity
- privacy
- stalkers

I don't know who is watching my videos, what devious behaviors they may be involved in, so why should I give them one more potential tool to locate me with? there are way too many sociopathic predators in the world to ignore even those things that seem petty.

I had a stalker once. Dude threatened to kill me and knew where I worked and what I drove/rode...so I threw my shotgun in the truck and invited him to stop by for a complimentary stack of pancakes. Chickenshit refused to show. Not sure if I'm happy or sad about that really..

If I ride with someone that isn't bothered about it then I won't.
But if they ask to have their plate blurred, then I'll respect their request.

Right, I'm going to have a rant, it's been a while, and I've got a topic, so here we go.

I've seen quite a few people ask to have their numberplates edited out of any videos (not naming names) And I have to raise the point of why you might want this. If you're doing anything illegal, it really shouldn't be going on youtube, let alone YOU SHOULD'NT BE DOING ANYTHING ILLEGAL IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I decided to have a crack at editing BDB's plate after the london meet. He didn't ask for it, but I thought I would give it a go. I ended up putting a huge yellow banner across the page. Effectively ruining the video. Some of you may say that there are better ways of editing out plates, by using after effects etc, but I didn't do a creative media couse or whatever, and I work a 45 hour week, basically meaning that I just don't have the time to learn how to use better software.

So I ask these questions.

1. Why do you want your plates edited out.
2. Will you all troll me if I don't edit them out.
3. Does anyone agree with any of what I have just said.

I know this is a controversial topic, but I don't want any arguments, swearing, and unpleasantness. These are simply my opinions. And nothing you can say will change them.

Fire at will.

pretty much its too easy to fake aussie plates, run some red lights with the same model bike, and then im screwed.

Well I never heard from him again after that, so there is no rest of the story. :P

It all got started because I spent a lot of time chatting with a girl he really liked. He had delusions that she was actually HIS girl and got all kinds of pissed because he thought I was trying to steal her from him. It really was almost comical.

For me its a personal preference, I dont want my plate on youtube. Face I am not bothered but I would rather not have my plate.

If you don't want your plates recorded, just take them off. Everybody wins. xD
I have no need. I just ride so fast that my numberplate catches fire. I recomment everybody to try it. You need to be doing at least 300mph :P
