Adventure is as Adventure does
Yep, I know that the Drift cameras have been featured fairly heavily here (both good and bad posts) but I thought one more post about the Drift could not hurt! ;)

I just wanted to share a recent video that I did regarding the setup of the external mic on the camera and in particular the mic sensitivity settings.

I have had the camera for around 10 months and have made a few videos with it, but only recently found out that I had the mic sensitivity settings too high.

I had it set to 3 when I should have had it on 1!

This is info that I wish I had come across earlier, so I thought I would put the word out there just in case there were other Drift users having the same sort of sound issues that I had.

It did my head in for a bit I can tell you. But now I have pretty good sound in my helmet! Yay! :D

Anyway, you can check out the video that I did below. The top link is to the video with good quality sound.

The link under that is to a previous video with inferior sound if you wish to compare the difference between the sensitivity settings.

Cheers.

Bill :-)

P.S. How do you embed the videos into the posts here? I have tried a few options and only the code is showing up in preview.

TBH I dont think theres ever a time to use the mic sensitivity on anything except 1. Ive fiddled with it, and sounds just distort on 3. Even with the internal mic (which is useless in my opinion)

I've used the internal mic for stationary demo videos. Rather than having a lapel mic on I found it easier to turn the sensitivity up to 3 and leave the camera on a tripod to do what needed to be done. Worked out pretty well, right up until I forgot to reset it to 1 and then ruined the footage of an entire road trip. :/

That sucks that you forgot to reset the settings. :(

I have no plan to ever change mine again, but I also have a few other cameras that can be used for filming stationary stuff, so I have no need to.
