What set up do you have?
Was that aimed at me? :)

I currently have a few different setups I use dependant on what bike I am on. When out on my dualsport I run a GoPro Hero 5 Session as helmetcam powered with a powerbank, and a GoPro Max as a chestcam usually. If on tarmac I have a GoPro Hero 8 Black as helmetcam and an Insta360 One X or the Max as a secondary camera.

The drift ghost charging issues could not be fixed after all. I tried all the work arounds provided by the manufacturer which BTW are not mentioned in the manual. I sent it back to the eBay seller in HK as he reckoned he could fix it , nah he couldn’t. Just got my refund from eBay, I for one will not be touching a drift 4K again
Good work on the refund. It seems a weird situation with yours. I got my XL and X from Camzilla in NSW (they are the official retailers) I've had very little issue ..... apart from one wouldn't connect to WiFi so they swapped it.

Sorry Yes it was meant for you What’s the hero 8 been like and what’s the reasoning behind the 5 on the dual sport , cheaper set up?

The Hero 8 is amazing, I am really impressed with it, and so far seems massively more reliable than the terrible 7. They just really need to launch the Media Mod accessory so I can record my in helmet audio straight to it as it is a pain using a voice recorder.
I mainly use the 5 Session as I can run external power to it so can just keep it running for the full ride as some of the groups I ride with don't like stopping all the time to sort the camera out and switch batteries etc. It is also smaller so I can fit it under the peak on my helmet as I have had the camera get ripped off the helmet with a side mount in the past.

Adding to my last and seeing as you gave me the inspiration to try somit new.... I am just doing an experiment with my GoPro Hero 7 Black. I never previously got on with it as it kept crashing and wouldn't record for any decent duration. But it does make far nicer looking videos than my trusty GoPro Hero 5 sessions (which are currently not being quite so trusty damn it). If I can get the 7 to record constantly on a powerbank with the battery removed in my room, I am guessing I'll be able to get it going in cool air on a helmet... so my offroad footage may well get a boost in quality if all goes well! :)

#fingerscrossed

Currently had the camera recording for over 2 hours constantly at 4k/60fps, it is very very hot, but so far so good! :)

Yup, you can't directly fit a microphone to any of the GoPro cameras from the 5 onwards.

Biggest downside to the gopro's, but they tend not to listen to vloggers xD
Had a look around and what GoPro call ‘Media Mod’ is an accessory that will be available this month. Amongst other things importantly It has a 3.5 socket , $124 AU

Sadly it has been delayed, was supposed to be on preorder in December, that has now been moved to January so folk are not going to get them till February/March
just read this back and you mentioned the media mod earlier , all we want is the 3.5 facility but have to pay for all the rest

If the mic on the media mod is as good as the one on the Max, it will be handy for off bike recording too, but aye... if they just gave us a water resistant 3.5mm socket.
