Davinci + Insta 360 - What's your workflow?

I use a GoPro Max and Resolve... and believe it or not, I'm working on a vid to address this.

The basics are to export from GoPro Player [Insta 360 Studio in your case, IIRC], then add Reframe360. Google "reframe360" and it should pop up. It works aces at getting the 360 footage into my vids.

Thanks. Admin, please close this thread, as I don't want to waste anyone's time. I will be returning my insta 360 as I'm not happy with the quality, therefore I won't be needing help with this workflow.

Wait, before you go returning it, let's try to work through it? See if we can't get better results?

I am completely biased... I happen to LOVE 360 footage in vids, so whatever I can do to help, I will!

Thank. I appreciate the help, it's not the camera, it's just me misunderstanding its capabilities. I just want a 2nd angle for videos, with good quality 4k image. and right now the insta 360 can't really provide that.

Does the Insta One X2 have a 1-lens mode, like the GoPro Max has? [on the GoPro, it's called Hero mode]. If so, check to see what res it shoots at - IIRC, the GoPro Max only has 1440 res for Hero mode.

Alternatively, you're using Resolve, so you can get the Studio version to try out Super Scale. It'll scale up your footage to 4k, and does a pretty good job of it, or so I hear. @Dewey316 does this on his vids.

It does, but I've not explored it as the Hero 9 will do it 10 x better with the Max lens mod

No need to apologise mate, and yup I have used it a few times now. The Max Lens Mod is pretty much the only use the camera gets currently as the 8's are easier to use on my helmets :-)

Now you've got me curious as to why the 8s are easier to use on a helmet? If you're running a Media Mod, I get it, but I thought you used the mic adapter? The 8 and 9 are different widths when in a Media Mod, as I have found out the hard way - Batman Villain lair anyone?

Because they are smaller than the 9 and more reliable currently. When the 10 comes out, I may move the 9 to the helmet as they will have sorted all the bugs by then :-)

I laugh, because they seem to steadily get worse instead of better. So many vloggers are still using the Hero 4/5/6/7 instead of going to the 8 and 9. I'm a junkie, so I'll probably pre-order a 10 just to have it.

I will say though, that over about 7 hours of recording with my replacement 9, it's been aces.

And I agree, the 8 is a smidge smaller, so it fits on the side of a helmet better. I found that the side helmet mount can be adjusted a little bit, which makes the 9 horizontal - yay! At first I was like, "ruh roh, am I gonna have to rotate all my vids in post to get them level???"

-John

The battery on the 9 was really what sparked my interest in the 9, as the 8 is still a great camera, but the Max lens mod is what got me to hand over cash for it! :-)
