Sounds like the noise cancelling is set a bit high as it only just catches the start of when you speak, and def no ambient motorcycle noise
I need to play with the settings I thinkSounds like the noise cancelling is set a bit high as it only just catches the start of when you speak, and def no ambient motorcycle noise
Thank you for what you're doing with the app, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we really appreciate it.The noise canceling is part of voice activity detection. When doing a voice chat, I only transmit speech. It might be too aggressive. The tradeoff is in the delays. If I want to capture more pre-voice then it will delay the playback on the receiving end. For recording it shouldn't matter.
Am traveling now but will try and fix next week.
Thx for all the feedback!
For the ambient motorcycle noise you can use mics from the different camera's.Sounds like the noise cancelling is set a bit high as it only just catches the start of when you speak, and def no ambient motorcycle noise
That removes the simplicity thoughFor the ambient motorcycle noise you can use mics from the different camera's.
Otherwise the group chat will be loaded with exhaust sounds and difficult to understand voices
Camera's are already recording audio regardless. That removes the simplicity though
I think @Crew-RChat mentioned something about recording the motorcyclist on one channel, and the incoming comms on the other. You'd still need to copy the motorcyclists and comms onto both channels in edit, but it would allow for engine noise I assume that way maybe?Camera's are already recording audio regardless.
So either you leave that be in edit.
Or have to mute them.
Not much difference.
Or you need to make the app so you can choose, record all audio from your mic, regardless of speaking.
And record incoming voice on a different track. That might work.
Otherwise your voice has ambient noise, the rest of the connected people don't have ambient noise.
Which makes for a weird edit,
I updated the app with a few fixes:Thank you for what you're doing with the app, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we really appreciate it.
Thank you for taking the time to do all that. I will try and get out to test it again nearer the end of the week.I updated the app with a few fixes:
- on android, the orientation should be more stable. I had not experienced that issue recently. I reworked hysteresis control over the rotation so it should be much better.
- I added a setting to record full sound, which is separate from filtering the noise for the intercom side, so your riding buddies will still get your voice cleaned up, while the recording can get the full audio OR the cleaned up audio. I also added the ability to mix the local voice to the other riders voices (on the left) while full spectrum (voice and noises, sorry can't remove the voice ;-) ) remains on the right. Some settings combinations that don't make sense can't be selected, like not using noise reduction for intercom AND using noise reduction for recording. The files have moved to subdirectory Crew. And there is a shortcut to find them from within the app in 'my files' with the new "Audio Recordings" tab which takes you to android's files explorer app.
I made some minor changes to the Voice Activity Detection to capture a couple more frames of audio at cost of slight increase in delay of voice.
Please let me know if you have more feedback. Thanks!
Thank you for testing Crew! Hopefully it can help you and recording might also benefit normal (non vlogging) users. Please continue to give feedback as it helps me work out the bugs.Thank you for taking the time to do all that. I will try and get out to test it again nearer the end of the week.
That makes sense about the maps. Will make sure I try it without next time.Thank you for testing Crew! Hopefully it can help you and recording might also benefit normal (non vlogging) users. Please continue to give feedback as it helps me work out the bugs.
Android is much harder to work with because of the high degree of variability between devices.
According to my logs, one of the crashes you experienced was related to the phone running out of RAM. So probably the map was using too much somehow. For the purpose of vlogging, you might want to not show the map. The app should run fine with screen off too, and it should reduce ram usage.
Oh, the android beta app is still under review by Google. Let's hope it happens faster this time.
RUROC Chain is apparently a really bad app. 1.7 stars on android, a bit better on iOS at 3.2.RUROC do somthing called Chain on the app stores works OK, uses the data network so has its limitations
You can then record the audio from the app
Sounds awesome, can we try out the beta version?RUROC Chain is apparently a really bad app. 1.7 stars on android, a bit better on iOS at 3.2.
I do not think you can record the audio with it, it has not been updated for over a year, and it has absolutely no support for offline, which my app does, via bluetooth, Wifi, and a bit of hardware I am working on, basically a travel router with custom firmware to provide MESH over WIFI with decent range (300-400 meters).
With some input from you guys I updated the app to provide vlogging specific features: record the audio on separate channels for the riders and the local microphone. I doubt any other app does that yet.
The app with all these new features will be released very soon. It is available in beta for the moment.
yes of course: try it here, and there were a few messages in this thread to explain it a bit. The links are above. I tried to put the links again but then it goes to moderation. No need to as the links for both iOS and Android are already listed above.Sounds awesome, can we try out the beta version?
