Buying A Cheap Sena Replacement Mic To Use With Your Gopro

Zeus

Just arrived on Earth.
Ok, I've been battling with cheap £1 mics from China for too long.

I've noticed on ebay that you can buy a replacement mic for your sena kit for around £10 - £20 (depending on whether it is boomed or just stuck to your chin bar) AND the older kits use a standard headphone jack which will plug into your GoPro or any other external audio device such as your phone.

Sena kit seems pretty good - they use a velcro system to mount the mic / boom into your helmet, there is a clip to coil excess wire next on the jack lead AND the wires are all designed to be about the right length for use in your helmet.

Has anybody tried this?
Does anyone know if the replacement kits come with replacement velcro patches?
What are your thoughts?

I recommend using the mic for Drift cameras it is super tiny and good quality. I also recommend the Sony ECM-CS3 you can get great sound out of it.

OK, well the Sena mic arrived but it actually uses a smaller sized jack (not the same as headphones!) which means it won't work with my current setup despite what I understood from the info out there.

The drift mic looks good.

the older drift is a 2.5mm jack, the sena might also be

The older drift camera was 2.5mm but the mic is 3.5mm. Drift came with an adapter but now uses 3.5mm
