Big meet before April

I'd just like to create somewhere people can discuss a big meet somewhere nice before April, I know Somerset has been discussed before but I thought we could get something really sorted on here.

I'm saying before April because I need to get some miles under my belt before hitting up Europe in May :P

Discuss.

It's 7.30 am I'm sitting in my armchair by the fire with a cup of tea, oh yeah and I just rode 150ish miles this morning, just saying. :)

yeah, I'm up for a meet up, I prefer to meet and greet rather than mmet and ride any distance in a group though, I got a slow 650 single

Well it won't be anywhere close to East Anglia, mainly because great roads are so few and far between :P

It'd have to depend on when and where. I've got so much going on between now and April. I'm going to Spain at the start of March, and I hope to make a few trips up to the Peaks, if possible.

I'd like to go somewhere different, though. But it has to be in a place where as many people as possible can go. Theres no point having it in Scotland, as so few of us can make it there (Though I'd love to do a Scotland meet up :))

On the Crackn/True meet, we rode some fantastic roads around Market Harborough/Leicester. Its pretty central. And then if we make it over a weekend, we can look at doing a trip around the Peaks as well, up to you guys :)

Thats my two cents anyway :P

Gaaaah, freaking Northern meets!

I vote Somerset, I just can't dedicate myself to being able to go owing to my job. My weekends are free more often than not though.

I'm in as long as we have a biker place to meet up at/some random cafe we can take over, then have somewhere to actually set out to go/ride. The peaks are nice but stopping on random carparks opposed to pub carparks for a sit down and some food or a cafe won't interest me again, hoping not to sound like a d**k.

Chrus, would you be able to plan us a meet in Somerset including Cheddar Gorge? To Chuckles's specifications ofc :P Shall we make it a one day thing so people can stay the night before or the night following?

I recommend meeting at the galleries at cheddar, Its in the gorge its self, and from what i've heard it does some decent food!

I do agree, and you're not sounding like a dick :)

On that peaks meet, we stopped at the side of the road because Snakes Pass was closed, and we needed to quickly discuss a new route. Then people started getting off their bikes for fag and toilet breaks, and then it took ages to get everyone back onto their bikes. It's often the problem with massive group rides that don't have comms between leaders. I felt the same as you did. It was bloody cold up there! :P

Id be up for it if I'm back on a bike by then....

Location not a massive issue, but I haven't really done any long journeys before. So would be quite interesting for me.

There's the road to Minehead, trouble is it's almost an hour each way, very scenic and some great corners though. Fish and chips at the end of it too...

I'll have a chat with my dad and see if he knows any roads I haven't thought of, and/or places to eat as he's been riding around here much longer than I have.

There's a huge bike dealer in Bristol, trouble is it's in Bristol :/

Is it Porlock Hill by any chance? If so I don't recommend any 125's come along if you go up there. I went up that road in the car and the brake were red hot when we got into Lynmouth. Lovely road and scenery though.

Haha i am not taking my bike up porlock hill! F*ck that! I get scared going up it in a car haha, um a good little route is from westonzoyland to langport, go a nice long straight and a popular road called 7 bends if you have ever heard of it? Or if you wanted to go minehead maybe got the way from bridgwater and around the out side of the quantocks, beautiful road that is.

No, not as far as Porlock, I know what you mean though, it's very steep around there. I should have specified, I mean from Bridgwater to Minehead, the A39.

I've only been down around Westonzoyland in my car once and I can't remember it much, other than it being very, very flat!

To be honest I am not sure how a bike would cope on Porlock hill, especially 50cc - 250cc :/

The 250's would do just as well as most restricted 600's. You'd just have to rev it a bit more. Trust me, there are some pretty bloody bike hills round here ;)
