Best Mic Place For Audio?

Hiya fella's , ive got a drift 1080p and my mic is currently attatched to the front of the padding which catches some wind noise, where do you guys put your mics?

In-between my cheek pad lining and the helmet, using a piece of kitchen sponge as a wind sock and to stop the microphone form picking up vibrations from the helmet.

Move it around a bit and experiment, or try a thicker bit of foam where it is. 1/4" movement can make all the difference. Varies a lot between helmets.

I have mine squeezed in the cavern where the chinstrap mounts to the helmet inside... I get a little bit of rubbing noise when I turn my head, but for my purposes, it works ;) .

I use an old Nokia hands free (recording with my phone) and I use the little plastic clip it has to mount it on that thing in front of the nose.
Picks up a lot of wind when I have the visor up though. It's OK (for what it is) when the visor is down.

That's also where I have placed mine. The sponge is a great idea. I might try this to fight the wind.

I have the Drift Ghost-S with the Drift microphone. I like to have the mic tucked in the cheek pad as close to the front point of the helmet I can get! That way the wind doesn't affect it... it's hidden so no issues of tangling and falling out. Works a treat!

Got a Sena 20s.... thus I have a mic in one cheek pad, and one in the other.

Cheers,

Get a better/thicker sponge for the end of the MIC. Check ya MIC setting in the cam isn't set too high. Also depends on what MIC you are using ;)

This thread will help me too, can you guys upload pictures of your mic set-ups please? Would be greatly appreciated :)

I put the mic in behind the cheekpad and noticed I still pick up a little windnoise at certain speeds, granted it's fine if i'm going under 40mph. I'm still experimenting with positions to find out what works best for my helmet.

I also have a drift and I currently have it in the side lining of my flip face helmet pretty much inline with my cheek. Because I am always opening and closing my the front of my helmet I need it out of the way. It still picks up a little wind noise even when the helmet is closed but when I talk my voice is very clear and prominent over the wind noise.

Mine picks up wind noise too when I'm going to fast. In city riding it's sound alright, but I want it to pick up the sound without the wind noise when I'm going like 120kmh. I'll try the sponge idea from SwissMotard. I really hope this helps, otherwise I'll try getting one of those dead cats!
