If you do use Final Cut Pro X (best editing software EVEEEERRRRRRRRRRR haha),

what would be some good tips to set up your final cut pro to save as much space as possible? Example, cache settings, rendering settings/locations, importing media options. Any help is welcome! The editing is perfect at the moment, i just noticed I gotta clean up some disk space where i save all of my Final Cut pro stuff, so ima wipe it clean. Starting a new editing slate with Final Cut Pro :)

Yo ;) !

here's a few ideas that immediately come to mind:.....

Put all of your FCPX stuff onto a large, external USB or Firewire HDD... if you have an extra tray in your Mac (like a Mac Pro), stick a HDD in there and use it :p . That will give you the best results and benefits ;) .

If you're keeping a project in FCPX for whatever reason for long term storage (and you're not going to be editing it anymore, etc.), erase unused render files for the project... that';; help with space.

If you can get Compressor, get it and I can go over settings for that later... but the general idea is to export your project as a a master file onto your desktop, put it into Compressor and write the result onto the external/second HDD. Compressor is so nice :D !.....

Anyways, if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask ^_^ ... FCPX is awesome :D ! It's hard to believe the pros had such fits when FCP became FCPX, but it was understandable... FCPX has come a long ways since the transition :p ~.....
(I'm rambling now, sorry ~_~ ~)

I'll sub to this thread, but I agree on keeping your FCPX projects on a separate disk.
haha yea i do keep all my video stuff on an external 3TB HD but i was alarmed on how fast it was filling up, even after i deleted old project files. Turns out that there were cached render files in there too :/ but all is well now. Im still open for suggestions on space management for Final Cut Pro X aka the BEST EDITING SOFTWARE EEVAAARRRRRR haha

I keep my project files in one folder (using 10.1), so I know where it all is. Worth checking on your main drive in the Movies folder as it can save backups there.

I usually just keep the final encoded file that I upload to YouTube and delete the project... unless YouTube does something to really pi$$ me off, then that's the way I'll keep them for long-term storage ;) ~.....
