I have been looking for an all purpose editor for leveraging GoPro Max 360 video. I currently use LumaFusion but it doesn't have the flexibility of choosing a specific point of direction/view and Adobe Premier seems to be a bit expensive. Any thoughts?

Davinci Resolve - the Free version will suffice. I did a video on editing 360 footage in Resolve. [my channel link is in my sig line, look in my Davinci Resolve playlist]

Let me know if you have any questions!

I use Cyberlink PowerDirector (not the subscription version). The GoPro software for PC does well for going from 360 to 2D but if I am going to edit in footage from any of the other cameras, I go with Cyberlink.
