GoPro sent me a discount 100 bucks off the GoPro to switch and I am tempted to get the black 7. Image stabilization is sweet and I like hyperlapse.

Just checking to see if anyone has made the leap (in the last 5 days)

I tried out the Hero 7 Black on my helmet mount. The only thing I didn't like is all the artifacts it causes in the asphalt with that forward view. I've switched back to my Hero 5 Session for now. Hoping they fix the artifact problem with a firmware update.

I got a 7 too and also noticed this problem, so you're not alone!

are you getting it on the unedited footage or once you put it on YouTube?

Funny you ask that. I'm intending on checking that out after work today. I was looking at other's folks footage on YouTube last night to see if it was consistent. It was, but at varying degrees. I'm also going to try some footage with Davinci to see if it's tied to the codex in Premiere Pro.

I'd not noticed it on my footage direct from the camera, but I've not had a chance to do much recording since getting it

I think the problem might be worse once uploaded to YouTube. In general I feel that I'm missing something when it comes to producing videos, I watched some Royal Jordanian videos yesterday and his video quality is top notch, whereas mine looks awful. I wonder what else I can do with my videos (maybe in post production) to make them look better

render 1080 at 4k, then it will look loads better on YouTube mate, you won't get any compression so you can render at the actual bitrate recorded.

I have now switched to the 7 Black on my helmet at this point. The thing that I found mitigated the asphalt artifacts was to turn down the sharpness setting. Mine was set to High from the factory. I switched it to Medium and no artifacts that I can see after uploading to YouTube. The video I published on my channel yesterday about my Stage 1 upgrade was shot on my 7 Black, sharpness at Medium and rendered from Premiere as 1080. HTH

I will certainly give this a go, thanks for the tip and for giving me some hope! I checked out a couple of your videos and like your trailer, very creative. I sent a sub your way, looking forward to more content

Thanks so much for the feedback and sub! I just started trying to figure this YouTube stuff out a couple of months ago. Lots to learn, for sure.
