hi guys im editing a video for a friend and he wants me to put a picture over his number plate. I know how to blur but he wants a troll face on his plate.

any ideas?

Do a search on youtube there's plenty of vegas tutorials. It's a tedious job in vegas, you will need to keyframe the picture to the video and use the follow motion tools once your have the keyframes setup, plan on spending hours making tiny adjustments to have it look good.

1) Go to the first frame that shows his plate.

2) Insert picture. Move it to correct position and size.

3) Keyframe it! They'll probably be a category like "motion" - that's the one you want to keyframe.

4) Skip forward a few frames (2-3, maybe 5 if you're feeling like it).

5) Move picture to new position covering plate if it's moved.

6) Keyframe it!

7) Repeat steps 4-6 for all eternity.

8) Watch back footage and notice how object jumps around the place and isn't smooth at all.

9) Cry.

In all seriousness, trying to make things track properly is painstakingly frustrating and I often rock myself to sleep in the foetal position while drowning myself in my own tears while thinking about it.

Good luck!

I did this the trollface covering of numberplate thing on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp-nDEloDTo&list=UUtGWk8hHum1_kmwYgmsaXEA&index=3

Friz's how to is bang on. Put the picture in to the software then resize to the plate's size then move and resize with the plate as you go from the first to last frame. WARNING: it is an complete bitch to do and is very VERY time consuming. I would get some food, water and get comfortable as you will be there a while. Multiply however many seconds of footage you want to block the plate on by thirty and that is the amount of times you may need to adjust the picture and bear in mind to move, adjust then click to the next frame can take about ten seconds. Sorry to be a bearer of bad news buddy. Thank you by the way for your comment on my video earlier. :D
