2nd Camera?

I have a GoPro 9 mounted on the helmet, however, I'm thinking of a 2nd camera to mount it somehow in the front, facing me, just to give me a 2nd angle when I record videos.

Initially, I was thinking of a 2nd GoPro, however, now I found out about these 360 cameras which not only will give me the angle I want, but also much more. What do you guys think? Insta 360 seems to be quite popular, however, I see GoPro they have their own 360 camera, any suggestions?

I have the Insta360 One X, One R and One X2, I sold my GoPro Max as the Insta360 cameras are better IMO. I think 360 cameras are incredible, especially for motovlogging as a second camera.
It is a shame you have only just decided on getting one as we were offering our members on here some freebies during the Insta360 sale they ran over last week and the week before.

That's alright. I'm just doing the research for now. My wife will kill me if I spent another £400. lol. So I'm just window shopping for now. I'll probably get one in the next few months.

I just completed my first test with the X2 yesterday, and I am pleased with the quality. I believe it will be perfect for the purpose I got it for - getting the wide scenery shots from sides. I have some trouble understanding the remote though. It seems to occasionally forget, it is paired to the camera and fails to wake it up. I think I need to re-pair them every time after the remote battery gets drained.

I currently have a Hero 8 on my helmet looking forward and a Hero 7 on the bars looking back at me. The setup works great, BUT I agree with Hippo a 360 camera makes for an ideal handlebar cam. I'll be buying one eventually, maybe next year, maybe this year, depends on when I feel like opening my crusty wallet and splurging a bit on myself!

That's what I was thinking. Initially, I was looking for a 2nd angle, just to keep viewers entertained, however, if I am to buy something new today, the price will almost be the same wether I go for a 2nd go pro, go pro max, or an Insta360. However, with an insta 360, not only that I get a 2nd angle, camera pointing at me, I can easily get a 3, 4, 5th, angle..

So it sounds like a better value for money. Need to start saving. lol.

I said I'll wait .. but guess what... I just won a brand new Insta 360 One X2 camera.. (so my wife thinks) .. LOL...

The good deal has closed, which is what I was on about before, but you can still get a free carry case for the One X2 on this link:

The 360 camera is great as a 2nd camera option, because like you said, there are tons more angles you can get and it's all built into 1 camera.

I got the GoPro Max because reasons, but I love throwing it on the bike occasionally. It'll add some time to your editing, and can add some complexities, but overall it's a great addition. I almost kick myself for having gotten the Hero 9 instead of the Max when I went for a 2nd camera, but I wasn't ready then. I did a ton of research and THEN pulled the trigger on it :D

Now I'm finding all sorts of neat uses for it on the bike :D

Alex2Wheel, if you don't want to drop the big money (i don't either if I don't have too!) you could try one of these cheap cameras off Amazon like the Campark.

Speaking of second camera setups/angles, has anyone done a rear Camera facing backwards? Might be fun to show when taking off from street lights. Or to show more footage of something you pass while riding? I have a cheap secondary camera that I kind of want to mount on back to see what kind of footage I get. Any thoughts?

I have a go pro hero session 5 on my handlebars. I like it as i really only need to capture me and thats about it. I can stick it in other spots on the bike as well without the large footprint.

I use a 360 camera on the back of my bike for trackdays, I can then get multiple angles from the same footage so facing me, facing rear, tracking bikes as they overtake m, or I them. Is a great angle for a secondary camera, if in an environment where that view would add to the video :)

On my fairing, the 360 cam allows me to do much of what Hippo said, except my windshield gets in the frame because the camera is of course off-center. Other than that, it's quite useful as both a view of the rider and fore/aft shots.

Really excited.. My 2nd GoPro should arrive today, together with a max lens mod.

So you ordered a second Hero 9? Or did you get a Max and the Lens Mod for your existing Hero 9?

Either way, congrats and use it in good health and editing! :D

a 2nd hero 9 + max lens mod, so I can mount it on the bike facing me..

I know, this will give me even more headache with editing lol..

It's not bad once you get used to it.

I am up to 3 cameras, and one is a GoPro Max - which can be a headache sometimes.
