Ideal Bitrate For 720p And 1080p On Youtube?

I have been using 15mbit for 720p and 18mbit for 1080p lately and they seem to come out really clean, but if I go and try 11-12mbit for whatever reason on 720p it becomes muddy. I haven't bothered with going lower than 18mbit for 1080p for obvious reasons.

Has anyone found the golden ratio? I'm still new to the post processing department so any help is appreciated.

Same as you myself. I have found if you upload a file that is huge to youtube it sometimes recompresses the buggery out of it.

best quality is what the cam records at.... how can you make it 25, when your cam only does 15?

or am i missing something here?

25Mbps is only for protune 1080p for the Hero 3+ Silver. 720p will be way less.

Right click on a video and check out the advanced tab to see the bitrate.

To be honest, I usually just leave it as the default and never bother to check. I uploaded a video, almost 14GB to YouTube, turned out fine, I think.
