What Do You Use To Hold Your Mic Besides Tape?

so i got a new helmet on the way. there's nothing wrong with the helmet i'm using now, i just saw a cool design and jumped on it. I like to wear different helmets for different reasons, so i need a way to mount my mic in more than one helmet. any ideas?

i was using tape to keep it in place on one helmet, but i never had to move it. i need to get the think tank rolling.

I just bought an additional mic when I bought a new helmet, much simpler, I just tuck the jack in to the padding.

You could use sticky velcro. Easy in and out, just need to sort out the cable routing.
hey! that's a great idea! good thinking there Lurch! i usually just stuff it in my ear cup. my helmet has a space routed out for earphones, so i stuff it in there. i'll probably do the same with the new helmet. i don't mind a little work before setting out.

Different helmets have different padding so what works in one won't always work in another...

i use the buttons in the back that keep the padding in to keep my wire fastened, my mic is also stuffed in my cheek pad

3M Dual Lock... the best stuff ever invented :D ! I've gone 80mph without it even budging... and this is with a layer-together on my helmet, onto something in-between, onto another layer-together ;) . Highly recommended :D !!!

Dual lock would be a good choice. You can buy it in just small strips at my local hardware store. I use it to mount my phone on the x-grip since I don't trust just the grip itself.

The clip that came with my microphone works for me.

The cable for my microphone is a good few metres long (which is very annoying), but those wire things covered in plastic help to control that. So yeah, I stuff all of the cables behind the cheek padding of my helmet, then I clip the microphone to the chin curtain of my helmet. Everything is easily removes as all you have to do is remove the cables from under the cheek padding and unclip the microphone. All done :D

Do you have stores like Jaycar in the USA? I bought a $20 mic that fits in my helmet. Buy one for each helmet?

I tried putting the mic into the cheekpad, but the quality dropped and I figured it would be a pain to remove if it started raining. Now I use velcro and twist ties to keep the microphone and wire in place and it is quick to remove in the event of a downpour.

Guys, could you please post a picture of your helmets? I am looking for ideas of how to organize camera and mic stuff on a helmet. Thanks
