What Do You Use To Hold Your Mic Besides Tape?

so i got a new helmet on the way. there's nothing wrong with the helmet i'm using now, i just saw a cool design and jumped on it. I like to wear different helmets for different reasons, so i need a way to mount my mic in more than one helmet. any ideas?

i was using tape to keep it in place on one helmet, but i never had to move it. i need to get the think tank rolling.

I just shoved mine behind the cheek pad. It could use a dead cat for the wind noise, but other than that I like the placement.

That 3M stuff is incredible. I use it to keep battery packs on my helmet!

How big are you battery packs, may I ask? And where?

My mic and all of the wiring is behind the cheek pad so it gets held in place by that. then on the outside of my helmet I have some tape holding the remainder so it doesn't flop in the wind. When the camera is off the helmet I just tuck the male end under the liner.

I have very little wire exposed on the outside of the helmet. The last thing I want is a tree snagging it.

Geez, I would never have any wire sticking out of the helmet. The possibilities are endless

Since I lost the microphone clip, instead of clipping it to the chin air guard thingy.. I just sqeeuze the mic between the cheekpads.

I seriously don't like the cheekpad spot. It picks up nothing less than a whisper or murmur. Or is it just me?

I crafted a mounting platform that can come off when I need it to, in such a way that the mic is directly in front of my mouth. Hums are picked up, even the slightest of whispers. Easy on easy off. So I'm pretty satisfied.

(I know it looks horrible, it's my first build intended as a prototype; I'm creating another, with The Frame this time)

If your mic is behind a cheekpad, I doubt a deadcat wrap will make a difference. I think the wind noise in your case is generated by the wind whirls in that space behind the chin bar

I ordered a dead cat for cheap so we will see, the mic is more by my cheek. I don't currently have any covering on it, lost the stock one -_-

Oh okay, in that case then yes the deadcat will [probably] eliminate the wind noise. Or significantly reduce it, at least

Im lucky enough to already have a boom mic from my scala bluetooth headset. Cable tied my mic to it that as its already in the perfect position.
