Need help with muffled voice

I don't agree on buying better than average quality mics for "vlogging" cameras. Most cheap arse mics will do.
The cameras don't expect a high level signal on the mic input so buying a powered mic is no good. The audio will clip like crazy. The cameras are designed to amplify a normal passive mic, if you use a powered mic, you're powering a small amplifier inside the mic and then input circuit inside the camera amplifies that signal even more, way past the limits.

For the first setup, put your mic here, under the cheekpad

Muffled voice: Put the mic closer to your mouth, move it to the front of the helmet.
Wind noise: Use a dead cat, fluffy stuff or a mic foam, move the mic up or down a little bit, use a chin courtain.
Audio clipping: Reduce the sensitivity on your camera. Move the mic back

Briefing, moving the mic front or back controls the amount of voice that gets to it, up and down deals with wind and exterior sound.

After each change, go out and ride at 40, 60, 90 km/h while talking to the mic so you have an idea when the wind/voice mix gets too much wind and no voice. You can correct this a bit but every time you're going past 100 you won't be able to talk.

Play with the position until you find the sweet spot.
