Uploading to Youtube

Yes indeed they are. Give them a couple years and Internet like fibre will be available everywhere and probably relatively affordable too.

Try living in Australia.

Try 30+ hours for a 10 minute video at 720p.

What's this "cable" "fast internet" "fibre optic" all about? I think we use Bullock teams to transfer data via stock routes... :(

My 1080p vids (although are a little longer at around 10 minutes) can take up to an hour to render, and I have a fairly decent computer and then can take 2-3 hours to upload. I blame my editing techniques and Australia's crapo connection to the rest of the world.

Used this site http://www.speedtest.net to test my connection at home and at school.

I got 1-2 Mbps at home and nearly 25 Mbps at school (upload speed)……Looks like I am going to be uploading videos at school!

Not sure how accurate it is but thats a pretty big difference.

IIRC it took me just over an hour to upload a 3 min 1080p video at home.

Im on Virgin Media Fibre Optic.. Download speed i get 30+mb but UPLOAD is on 1.9mb which is shitee.. A 500mb video takes me about half hour to 45 mins

I have 100 up 100 down fibre.

I can render and upload in real time. 10min vid, 10 mins to render, 10 mins to upload.

Of course the render time is dependant on the power of your pc.

And the upload on the up speed of your ISP

Thats pretty impressive. It usually takes double the time of the length of a vid. If its 8 min, 16 min upload time.

takes me about an hour and 20 minutes to upload a 9 minute video... sadly. I should try a direct connection, instead of wireless.

5h for a 9min video upload. Sigh. Practically speaking, start it going at night, next morning it's done.
wow... I thought I had it bad. Well at least you have a system going :) I upload at night when I am watching the tele. So by the time I head to bed, it is done

work for an isp...but being in deep dark africa, it still takes me aroudn 40 minutes to upload a 2gig file

About the same for me, video was 1080p. Been using Final Cut Pro, need to look up how to change the settings as the edited file is bigger than the raw footage... My broadband is with EE, but they've been getting steadily worse, contract is up in about a month finally.
