What causes sound clicks/pops when you split footage?

you 'ad a cave wall!!!?? ... hmmph luxury! .. we used to dream of havin a cave with a wall! .. well i say dream .. its 'ard to dream n that when you 'ave to stay alert 25 hours a day just to make sure the vultures din't peck out your liver! .. ooooh our dad would say to me, "one day son, that swanky lot up the hill in yon cave will 'ave to move on! they be crappin at the back o' cave and it'll fill reet oop! they wont have room for their flashy firepit an' piled animal skins to sleep on! ... nooo , they'll move on sure enough!.... an' that will be our time to shine!... see this what i 'ave 'ere boy?! .. this be my own idea 'n all!... it be right 'andy for a'scrapin away poop! .. now mek sure THEY dont see you with it.. or rotten buggers will pinch the thing an' de-crap themselves!"....

oh yes... we used to salivate at the thought of bein able to scrape away years worth of dried poo! .. just to 'ave the chance for a cave wall to stare at .... we wouldnt have drawn on it mind!! .. we was too poor t' afford t' charcoal! ..........

:D:p:D

LOL You were a born biker Janx! A 'right proper Loon!' Hahaha :D

Yeah he never rides like he stole it though...... Actually a friend of a friend of mine.. That knows this guy that went out with this girl... That drove down a road in Queensland once..... Said Codsy's Nanna rides faster than him!! :p

Sorry to drag this on longer gentlemen but it's still doing it. Am I being simple? I updated the Windows 7 codec, which codecs would you recommend I update? The only player I use is the Windows Media PlayerAlso I'm not sure if I was clear to start with, the annoying click/pop is there in the editor it's not something a player is doing. I can't find anything about this on the internet, bloody frustrating though.

I think the saying is "Ride it like you stole it, but slowly so you dont attract attention" or something like that?

Right chaps! I think I have sorted it! Anyone who has this problem try updating the AC'97 codecs. so far I am not getting any popping!

Thanks for the help gents!
Wait a minute... AC97? What are you editing on? A pentium 3?, Pentium 4 Prescott?
Haven't seen AC97's in ages.... Well, actually I got 6 computers at work with that stuff last week.

I seem to have pretty much gotten rid of the problem entirely now by adding a single frame crossfade or a constant power. Thanks for the help chaps especially matth1138 who actually pointed that out but I somehow missed it!

Sounds like ure editing program

the program doesn't know what to do with the audio when you split the clip, so it generates the generic tone. Just fade that final 5 frames of video in AUDIO ONLY and should fine.

gets rid of that sound i guess

Thank you Sir, I have nearly finished a video where I have gotten rid of all the pops using crosses and constant power. There are still two I need to work on, I wish I knew about those tools before :(

I didn't think of separating the sound and video, I'll give that a try and see how it looks/sounds!

Cheers!

after you cut something, why don t you just fade in, the video as well as the audio.

or use any transition, between segments that have been cut?

using premiere aswell. as mentioned before. you won t pic another software after you worked your way in it
