As per title really gents. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it's perfect. I can usually fix it if I cut the click noise off but not always...
What causes sound clicks/pops when you split footage?

Naaa it's nothing to do with the recording itself. It's during editing, when I split a bit of footage there can sometimes be a click/pop. Quite annoying, sir.

I did notice windows movie maker did it a lot, but power director 12 doesn't do it much. It's just annoying when it does because I know I have to go and fix it. Strange.

I've updated my codecs so I'll report my findings next time I edit. Thanks for the help gents.

Misunderstood genius
I have had the same thing, using imovie09 on a macbookpro. No rhyme or reason to it, I have tried cross fades, manual fade-outs, all sorts, but it can't be "cleaned". Only option seems to be to trash the segments and re-import them and see if it won't do it next time.

The way I can sometimes get around it is cut a few frames off the start of the second piece. Sometimes a few frames off the end of the first fixes it but it's usually the start of the second.
