Zoom h2n - who has one? Best settings to work with?

I found a zoom h2n with a lot of kit on eBay, had to get it. I’ve wanted one for donkeys.

I’m aware every bike and set up is different but there must be a basic sweet spot to work and start with?

Is this for putting under your seat to get bike noise? It'd be cool to have a recorder with 2 external mic inputs and a mixer so you could get the perfect balance between bike and voice volumes.

I've just bought a Zoom H5 to record both voice and exhaust, then mix in a video editor so will keep the forum posted on any vids I do. I've wanted to get better sound and thought separate audio although more bulky may be the way to go, so decided to up my game this year - which is why I've joined this forum.

Id still use my Sena 10c for voice and zoom just for bike noise to be honest

I’ve been getting by with a mic straight into the TomTom Bandit, but want to improve my site this year. I don’t think I’ll be able to deal with the stability of the video and can’t justify a Hero 7 at the moment, so thought I’d work on the sound and editing with some different camera angles.
I’ll post my tests on Bikervation and keep the forum updated, and hopefully get some help/feedback. Should get to it during March and April.

I have a Zoom H2n and love it. It records 4 channels with the built in mics. They are top notch quality and when coupled with a decent deadcat, there's no wind noise at all.

If you plug in an external mic, it will use the standard XY stereo channels leaving the MS channels to use the built in mic. That is great for mixing both tracks in post.

Mic gain settings only work for the built in mics and I normally set it to 0 (2 or even 3, when I use the dead cat), when tucking the recorder under the seat. Sound quality 48Mhz and I use a limiter for the built in mic, not sure which now but will check and update.
