Hello everyone! I'm very new to motovlogging, no real gear or setups yet, no YouTube posts, so far just some messing around with a simple mount I made for my phone and some live streams to Facebook friends... But I'm wanting to start doing more and better vlogs! I'm looking for any advice and suggestions on how to get started, better gear, and just having a bit more fun with it! My bike is currently in the shop getting some valve work done due to snapping cam chain, cam sprocket, and lobe on front camshaft.... But looking for new adventures this summer and get to know and meet up with some local blogger near me if there are any! Look forward to hearing from everyone!

Welcome to the site!

To get started it's rather easy. Grab yourself a camera first. Go Pros and Drifts seem to be the favorite weapon of choice for motovlogging, but any action cam should work. You should get one that also allows external audio input or you could buy yourself a recording device to attach a mic to. Get yourself a mic, a simple $5 one from Amazon totally works, that's what I use. Then get your camera set up on your helmet or wherever else you might want to put it (I think the helmet is the best) Then run your audio setup however you need.

Come up with stuff to talk about and do it! If you are looking for any specific answers or tips let me know!

Well I did find a GoPro hero for 35 but I don't know much about them, if they are all compatible with such setups or not...I've got a buddy who is interested in doing this with me and since we both restored and ride old XJ series Yamaha bikes we are thinking that's going to be our theme more or less, I have yet to see any vloggers on vintage bikes and think it might be interesting, and we have a rather large XJ group and a bunch of those members do carb clinics all over it would be a great time!

Hate to hear the bike is down. When you mentioned front cam and cam chain, my mind went to HD Twin Cam. Is that what it is?

Mine is a 1982yamaha XJ 650 seca RJ, DOC.... Just got it on the road two months before after a 2 year rebuild from the bike sitting since 97.... I've been puttering around with getting it fixed due to some health issues but next month the shop and I are going to get it all knocked out and fixed up! What really sucked was that when it broke down I was on the highway in middle of rush hour .... Went to pass the only driver going 45 in a 55(most were going70) and there was a faint grinding sound and everything cut out.... Had to quick swerve back to the right shoulder cutter of the guy I just passed lol

Dang, glad you were not run over!

Cool keeping an older bike running. I got two 1970s CB750s mothballed that I should put some time and effort into so you are doing better than me.

Yeah I came close to it, luckily the guy I cut off was paying attention and had his window down and heard the engine cut out and put on his breaks...even then I only cleared his front number by about 3 feet.....

Yeah this was actually a buddies dream bike he bought but never had the resources to fix it properly so he sold it to me for $100 on the agreement that it's restored as close to original as possible and never sold again. My bike was only made from 81-82 so finding parts can be a challenge and gets pricey lol!
I love old bikes! Working on them and riding them is so much more fun to me even with all the little problems that come with it!
