On The Street, The Enemy Is....

Every driver on the road. Ride as though your bike is a giant magnet, sucking other vehicles (and objects) toward you at all times. If you can anticipate these things then you stand a much greater chance of completing your ride in one piece.

Deer. Just a matter of time, I suppose. Many closer than I like situations. Ironically, many of them are NOT in the woods areas, but in the residential neighborhoods!

Vehicles pulling out from a side road in-between static traffic (to join the road on the opposite side/direction).

Because you often wont see them over the car roof's until they've committed to driving out, then the next you see is the SIDE of their car directly blocking your path... plus they NEVER see you filtering up the road on the other side of the stationary queue of traffic...

Tis the season- WET LEAVES

Also, I've been exposed to some other bikers who are downright dangers to themselves and everyone around them.

Every other moving or sedentary object on the road, your phone, alcohol, your helmet if it's too tight or too loose, the seat which has waged an eternal war on your nutsack, hot women walking on the sidewalk, dogs, interactive signage, bad weather...does that cover everything?

The lit sig from an on coming car's window that happens to make it down your jacket at the back of your collar.

A guy threw his lit cigarette out of his window just this morning, as I rode past (virtually into my path). I did look at him as I passed to see if he acknowledged me (knew I was there), but he seemed oblivious. I never reacted.

......I was ready to jump off my bike, pick it up, and toss it back into his lap !!! :D joke.

There's a guy I watch that will pick up cigarette butts and will throw them back in the car. He's a true hero imo haha

There was a video of a woman who was at a McDonald's and picked up a driver's litter and threw it back through the window.

I think the biggest enemy is inattention/distraction. Oh sure, crap on the road sucks, but the close calls and crashes I've had all involved someone not paying close attention to the operation of their vehicle, either me or the other guy, and in those close call situations, I was paying enough attention to take measures to avoid a crash.

Just yesterday, I was driving a client (I currently work with the developmentally disabled), home from his day program (in a car), and we were nearly t-boned by a lady entering our lane from a side road. I was able to swerve and avoid the accident but her head was down looking at her phone and she didn't look up until my horn blew. Inattentive driver.
