Looked to be lots of loose gravel along the edge of that turn. Damage could have been much worse if the bike had of slid across the tarmac before hitting the dirt.

Sorry he went down but glad him and the bike are ok. And advice for new riders to avoid this ?

Based on my opinion alone - I think the duel vlogging might of been a big influence and he concentrated on OPs word of warning, then the bend.

Mix that with a tad of target fixation and boosh you go down.

One thing I was told by experienced racers if that if you're gonna crash, chuck the bike into the bend harder because you may just get out of it, if you don't, you'd crash anyway

Looked like he took a bad line, possible target fixation, and jammed the rear brake to try to get out of it. Definitely replace the skid lid. Don't even think twice. Good on you being there for your friend and staying calm for him. Hope he is alright.

Target fixation is locking eyes on one point on the road ?

I am not the most experienced rider yet either Jay, but yes it is when you lock your eyes on a point in a turn, when you should be looking through the turn, up the road as it were. It happened to me and down I went too. Did you take an MSF course? If not, I highly highly recommend it. :)

Always look round the bend, not at the bend.

We've all cocked up with target fixation at one point. Maybe not fallen off but thought 'that was close'

I was expecting to comment along the lines "when riding in a group, don't attempt to keep up with more experienced riders infront" half expecting this to be the 2nd guy going down, trying to keep up through the bends...

Anyhow :) just didn't look like he set himself up for that bend properly, wrong line also? Didn't appear massively tight.

I have developed a fear of going into bends too quickly, knowing I'm not going to make it round... (probably from watching too many videos like these).

Clear cut target fixated, we hit the same roads at twice the speed the day prior when I was leading
