How Can I Block Out Numberplates And Faces With Gopro Studio?

I don't know how Vegas works but on FCPX you duplicate the clip as a layer imposed on top of the video and apply a blur masked to an area which you can track over an object, or use key frames to keep it roughly where you want it. Do you have this option in Vegas?

Yeah thats pretty much the same in vegas, use key frames to place the mask, it just took me ages as the number plate moved so much haha. there must be a way to make it track an object like the number plate.

I gave up on open source editors a long time ago. they were slow, didn't do anything worthwhile or the compression ruined the videos in the final render. When it comes to editors, you get what you pay for, and free gives you only the most basic. There is a reason FCP, Adobe, Vegas are or close to, industry standards (outside custom proprietary software)

Bluring specific areas of video is not a simple, fly-by-nite process, which is why it isnt included in the inexpensive or quick editors. It has to track the location, and blur each and every frame.

You will save time and trouble just getting some software that can handle it the first time. Anything else is wasting time.

You put into words what has been slowly dawning in my mind...

I guess that was to be expected. Ive played around with Trakax and can seem to do well and its only cheap, Im not a fan of it completely but to do an odd edit that canot be done with Go Pro Studio its worth the buy.

some people have said they dont want there face and plates shown. so at the moment i dont film them. everyone loves to watch a wheelie now and again haha

Personally, I use Cyberlink Power Director. Its been powerful enough to do what I need it to do and its actually easy to blur anything you need to (it allows for very fine control on where you want the blurring to occur and how it moves with your videos) so i can't recommend it enough. Sure its not Premiere, Final Cut, or Vegas, but gets the job done nonetheless.

As for blurring with GoPro studio, definitely not. I'm sure of it (as of the time of this writing, of course)

You can try Cyberlink Power Director, mate. Their interface is similar but its a lot more capable. Simple to use and pretty easy learning curve too.

Premiere Pro crashes my PC everytime I open it. Maybe its hinting I need a better one soon, who knows. =) Ah well.. I think we've all been there mate. Haha.
