This topic has possibly been covered but what are the best formats to publich your vlogs in prior to uploading them to YouTube for speed etc.

If there's no difference because YouTube still needs to process it then forget this thread and tell me I'm a douche

It depends, what video editing do you use? I use Vegas pro and found a usefull video on how to set it up

I use roxio hd lab I can upload direct to YouTube via it but I like to make a copy on my computer for refence so at least if I put it into a format thats best for Youtube initially then it will save time on the upload/processing (possibly) not that it takes too long around 40 mins to upload a 12min 1080p vlog and around 15 mins to process I think.

Is that average?

not sure about with roxio, I'm supposed to be getting a different PC soon as mine is a 3yr old mono core so as averages go mine is slow. a very good friend is building me a dual.

If anything I've found that uploading straight to YT is a bad idea, not only is it much slower, but if internet cuts or it just decides to be stupid you have to render it again :/ I allways Render then upload.

.wmv just because the videos it renders are really low in file size.

I edit my stuff on VideoPad as raw Quicktime files (usually between 600-800mb) and then export them as WMVs. Drops the file size right down to between 200-300mb.

I've tried AVIs and some others but WMVs always seem to be the quickest and smallest.
