Well now. since we're back up i might as well stick my story up again, since i posted it a short while below the site was accessed.... through the back door..... *snigger*....
Anyway...
For those of you that don't know me, i'm 19, i'm from Edinburgh in Scotland and my site is http://www.youtube.com/mrdunkable.
It's been a while since i last made a vlog but i recently ordered a camera, so hopefully i'll get back on track, though it won't be in HD it's a nice start.
I might as well tell you my biking life story since it's quite interesting
Righto, first bike was a CG125. bought it after saving up my hard earned cash from my part time job, without even thinking about my license or gear or anything. i just wanted a bike.
Found a 1999 CG125 on ebay for £500, so i haggled with the guy and got it down t £400, and £40 to deliver it to my door. perfect!
Got it like that and i was delighted with my purchase. £400 for a taxed and MOTd bike, and all i needed was my CBT.
SO, as i'm sure many of you know, i did my CBT in may, and that bike was crashed.... Many times.
I broke my wrist on one, but kept pushing on and gaining experience, seeing how much the bike could handle.
Modded it a bit too, stuck a round headlight on
And also stuck some competition bars on it!
Now i loved that bike, and it was perfect for getting me to college and back. but alas, it was not meant to be.
Came out to go to college one morning and my bike was gone. cue frantic searching an calling of the police, but never heard a thing about it again.
So i stuck some ads up, managed to make another £400 and bought a 1993 CG125 off a member on here.
Taxed, MOTd, did me okay for the month that i had it.
Granted it was nowhere near as nice as my first CG, but it did the job. Never crashed this one till that fateful night on 22/11/2009.
I don't remember much of the crash, i just remember seeing the car on my peripheral vision, and then being on the ground in extreme pain.
turned out i'd dislocated my right elbow, i couldn't move my right leg at the hip, knee or ankle.... broke a couple ribs, my wrist, all that jazz.
But that wasn't gonna stop me.
Got back to work after 5 weeks off, and started making money again.
When i had made a fair whack, i started buying bits and pieces to rebuild the bike. i got a frame from a member on here for free, as i'd given him a bike and he was paying me back through some parts i needed.
So i started rebuilding the CG, with what i had. came across a lot of problems trying to shoehorn '93 bits into a '99 frame, but ended up with this.
Still needed a lot of work, and unfortunately i ran out of funds and had to let it go. sold it to a member on here for £150.
so after this is was bikeless and boring, till july when i got my hands on a tidy GPZ500s for £300. needed the carbs cleaned, and needed a general tidy up, but was a steal for the money.
Got it like this
So because i had plenty of time till i went back to college, and i had a load of time off work, with money still coming in, i decided to do a proper clean up and got it running properly. stripped the carbs, cleaned out the cylinders and did a big service on it.
Ended up like this.
Got a pretty decent following on that bike's thread and i thought i'd done a good job, for my first time.
So I never had my licence, but i had this bike and i had a car too, a 1.4L '98 VW polo. it was an easy choice really. bye bye car, hello bike test.
did my bike test in kirkaldy with Pro Scot (great guys, highly recommend them!). Passed first time, with 0 faults. perfect!
I got the GPZ on the road a couple days after i'd passed. Loved every minute on it. felt like a superbike compared to the CG125.
But then again, good thing's aren't meant to last, are they.
Someone stole it when it was sitting outside my girlfriend's house. Blew the fuse on the starter solenoid and just dumped it, the day before my birthday. she found it the next day and i got it back. great birthday present!
Was in a bit of a state. fair enough, it was repairable, but i didn't feel like that. i was feeling steetfighter.
So i set to work on it, ripped the fairing off, stuck a load of bits on it and was generally happy with it. ended up like this.
So i had the GPZ 'fighter for a couple months then got a wee bit bored with the power on it. i wanted something bigger, something faster, a bit more sporty and attractive. That's when i found the TT600.
did a part exchange on the TT600 with the GPZ.
*ooooohhhhhh the TT600!*
Yeah, that one.
Not much i can say about that bike that's not already been said.
Yeah, it handled brilliantly, the brakes were fantastic. It could really shift when you opened it up, and i loved how it looked.
But all those good points? only really valid when the bike fucking worked.
I did sort most of the problems by the time i got rid of it, about £100 worth of bits were needed, and the new owner, yeah, you guessed it, off this forum, has got it sorted
Anyway. got rid of the TT in favour of something cheaper to run.
After being made redundant and recieving 6 days pay for 6 weeks work, i did struggle a bit to run the TT. the GSX600F seemed perfect for what i needed it for.
Bought it on the wednesday.
the bike was capable, but nothing special. did what you asked of it and not much more. it did sound good though!
So i took it to my girlfriend's house on the sunday, and this happened.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SjA2MejOlQ
So i had it 5 days before it was nicked.
Surely i've just had bad luck with bikes?
So, 2 days later, i managed to salvage £800 for a new bike, and i've bought a 1996 CBR600f. got it last night and brought it home. fantastic bike. Looks good, apart from the paint, 7k miles, runs well, sounds amazing with the stubby can, goes like shit from a shovel and is just perfect for what i need.
Making a fair bit of WONGA at my new job so it's easier to run a bike like this now, and this will be good to commute on too, so i can't complain!
I then got the GSX back from the police. It was in okay condition, got it back like this
But it was too much for me to tackle. sadly i had to let it go, and i got my money back for it anyway.
I've since bought a 2001 DT125r project. it's been stripped and needs putting together again but it's in great condition, just the plastics and tank are a bit muddy....
So that's it so far. new bike really is great. best bike i've owned so far in my opinion.
Cheers
