Xiaomi Yi

We don't have a topic consernign this cam yet???
Saw it on Techmoan's YouTube, seems to be a good cam.
From what I can tell, it got quiet a good picture. Sharp, and not shaky like some other cams (always search for bicycle videos, then you'll really notice if the cam is able to perform under shaky condisions). And 1080p with 60fps for that price...
Nice wide angle lense, takes up to 64gb micro sd, light weight (about 70g), neat price.

Does not come with any mountings, but Im pretty sure I could use the same mounts I use for my mobius.

Battery life sucks... Tried to find out if theres any way of replacing the battery. It is replaceble (did I write that word correctly???), so in theory there could be a chance of just getting a way better battery, and still having the original as a backup.

Micro seems to take up A LOT of wind noise... Mobius did to, just overtaped the mic slot.

Started thinking about a second cam a while ago, but everything in my price range seemed inferior to the mobius. If the battery problem of the Yi is fixable (okay, does that word even exist???), I may even buy one.

Nobody cares about the cam?
Because if they would provide a better battery I would get the cam... That and the fact it costs liek 30€ more in europe are the only two things keeping me from buying it right now.

Well if anybody is even slighly interested, I contacted the Xiaomi Support and they said there isnt an option of using a better battery.
Its sad, the picture is really quiet good...

Japan used to be synonymous with crap, but look at them now.

China is heading the same way rather quickly.

Agree, but they're still not there. And I think Japan did it through engineering (improving the design and manufacturing processes, Kaizen, Poka Yoke, ...) and China is doing it by copying, not to mention the working conditions and the political system.

But yeah, they're improving: Huawei, Oneplus One, ...

The SJ4000 and newer model cameras of the SJ seem to do well for the price, the sad part is that there are now inferior clones of the clone (referring to SJ4000 being the clone of GoPro). YES, there are clones of the original clone (can you believe that), those are terrible. How to differentiate, I have no clue.

I wouldn't trust it personally but for the price it might be worth having a go. Can't see cheap Chinese stuff lasting long in bad weather but I could be wrong.

at $90 bux, that's not a bad looking camera. I already have two that i use, so i don't know if i'd go out an buy it, but it does look like a good contender.

Battery life is 1 hour.
If you use a skeleton door, you can plug into a micro USB power source for longer recording.
Extra batteries are $12 bucks for 2 with a charger on amazon
Its durable
I have used it in snowboarding, and a ton on my motorcycle.

The only issue is no external mic.
there is a solder mod how to video on youtube.

I think am going with the 2nd voice recorder route.

The battery last for 1h (720p 60fps), i always brought 2 extra batteries , only cost $3-4 each..
Really good cam, better than sj4000+ , or any other chinese action cam..
I could say it even have better picture than my Drift HD Ghost, especially at night,,

Have you posted any footage of it online yet? Feel free to post a vlog in the video section and link that thread to here.

You can buy refurbished Drifts for pennys these days, why pick a cheap shite camera when you can have a half decent one/
