Wifi Camera Use

I finally broke down and bought a wifi podz for my air pro. I just now used it a little bit in my living room to see what it was like. I can't say I'm let down. It has very little delay when i connect on my laptop. It is very laggy when connected to my phone, though. kind of annoying, but sort of understandable.
Anyone else using the ion wifi? what about the gopros? do the go pro wifi act any different? better or worse?
i mainly got it because i can't set my camera straight and most of my videos are crooked. Now i can connect to it really quick and check my level and go. It also has remote function which is neat, but won't be used much.

do you guys use wifi from your action cameras?

The GoPro has about a 1/3rd second delay on them, and I don;t know of any phone app based WiFi solution without any lag.

The GoPro app is very well featured but drains the battery too much for me.

luckily this can be turned on and off with one button. if i don't want it, i can completely remove it too. that should save my battery.

Definitely a slight delay on the GoPo, not horribly bad...Older phones will struggle a bit more as well. I'm on a Galaxy S4 active and when I tried this on an older HTC android it was noticeably worse.

i've got a slick new g3. i can't say i'm surprised that it's laggy. it's a phone for god's sake. i still like to day dream of an instant stream between my toys. i was pretty impressed with the connection to my laptop.

On the GoPro's it cripples the battery if you stream to your phone all the time, but just to setup a shot it's great and I don't notice the battery drain from a few minutes of use.

Er... same as any other screen on a camera, but you can have it quite far from the camera to check the shot or remotely change settings and record when something is within the shot.

I barely use my screen on my drift, after i got the angle right i havent neeeded it since, Dont go pros have a screen on?

the Ion site said it would shorten the batter life by one hour if used constantly. it's not good enough for a live feed, just to see what your camera is seeing for a second. it does pretty good with streaming videos you have saved on your camera pretty good too. maybe show off to the guys at the gas pumps. i have a problem with my shots being crooked because my camera "looks right" from my helmet.

Only the 4 Silver.

I prefer the WiFi option because like you I never use a screen and it keeps the size and weight down without one.

I'd say it keeps the price down too... but well it's GoPro so it doesn't :p

wifi kills the gopro in a bad way, even more so in the cold. Last year "snowmo-vlogging" I was keeping spare batts in my chest coat pocket to keep them warm (slows the drain)

Its good to use to setup/check the angle and do an audio test clip but after that i'll kill the wifi till its time to change the batt again
