Rant Why Do You Motovlog? (did You Ride Beforehand?)

Yeah, it spins me out to think that people get their bike license just so that they can become a motovlogger. I don't agree with that way of doing things at all.

I think you need to have at least a bit of riding experience behind you before you go and add the distraction of vlogging.

I was surprised to find out some people got into motorcycling specifically to motovlog.

I motovlog because I been vlogging and making funny clips for years. then my wife told me to get a motorcycle. I never rode one before so i looked up videos about tips on riding motorcycles. that is where i found motorvloggers and i was like i want to do that. i already had a gopro. so i got a mount on my helmet and just started doing it. made me love riding even more.

Probably easier for you because you were already used to doing other tasks while talking to yourself. Do you have many videos about starting out and what revelations you've gone through as you learn new skills on the bike? I don't see enough of that from the new riders. I also wish more people did their own maintenance and vlogged while doing work. I might start doing that rather than separating those things into just how-to's.

I had the itch to ride for years before I actually took the plunge to get my licence [my car costing me more than its value in repairs was the tipping point].
As for motovlogging? Got a camera due to my best friend being in an accident and harrassed by cagers in various situations. Thought, "hey, let's natter while I ride" after getting it.

As for the "new experiences", I wonder if the video I made when I got on my XJ6 for the first time is sort of thing you mean [not linking, unless requested - I believe that's the proper etiquette here?]

Part of why I keep my camera rolling is for evidence. If something goes down or a person side swipes me as I'm filtering through traffic at a safe pace, I've got something to show in court.

I want to get a Sena, but I can see how it'd be easy to get distracted by other riders in the group in a conversation. Then again, it'd also be a great way to call out hazards or let the group know to slow down for a turn up ahead.

I've got no problem with people linking videos in here. I'm all about collaboration and building community. I'll be doing a video on that later. I have big plans that are already in motion, just waiting for the host to go live.

Cheers. Well, this was the video.
Context is simply that I had been riding a 125cc for the previous 6 months, and I had just bought myself an XJ6

Nice vid mate. I got into MotoVlogging a few months after I got my restricted licence here in Western Australia (under 660cc / certain power to weight ratio) once I started to watch a few MotoVloggers on YouTube for riding tips. I thought it would be a good way to catalog my progress and adventures over time from beginner on smaller bikes to bigger bikes. If I got some subscribers over time, it was a bonus.

Sub'd. It'll be fun to see your progress.

I initially tossed a gopro on my helmet because there are so many god awful drivers here in my city..
After several months of riding and watching many other motovloggers I added a microphone and gave it a go.

Still learning lots about vlogging, communicating, and riding in general. I find vlogging to be very similar to blogging/ writing/ journal.. you can talk about anything. But when you talk, there's alot involved in how you present your thoughts and such! I enjoy it alot really just for myself! :)

I had been riding for a while and had already been in a wreck. I got a camera after the wreck for my own safety (to help with legal issues). I had been following vloggers like laurie jennifer and Iamramiken for several years mainly to watch experienced riders. When I found Spacep0d's channel I guess it gave me that extra push to put conversations out there that I normally only wrote about because his channel demonstrated to me that motovlog's could be about complex topics of a more serious tone. I never thought I would go through with making anything public, but I am glad I did because I am shy and this helps me be more confident.

I still need to start (MrMarcie on YT), still waiting on my bike. Just start riding and I assumed it would be nice to vlog also. I won't vlog every day or week, but sometimes. And I follow a lot of vloggers and see it's a nice community and I'v learned a lot (as a beginner) from all the video's I watched. So it's not also entertaining and social but also a great way to learn a lot.
