infact it may be the end of the biking would all this 2012 stuff

It's a reoccurring theme here at Motovlog. Ask most of the guys here and they will know of multiple fellow vloggers that have gone down in the past. We all just hope and wish for speedy recoveries and carry on riding!

Unfortunately there's been more than that

Suppose it's just a fact of life, people crash.

There has been a lot more than that.

It might be because we're a large community of bikers, and bikers crash all the time. Therefore, a lot of us in a year will crash.

It might have something to do with the amount of learner/novice riders that come on this forum, probably finding motovlogging in the run up to them getting their first bike. On this forum, I feel its a dispoportionally high number of novice riders. These people lack experience and are more likely to get themselves into situations where they crash.

Maybe because they haven't had full training or whatever, I don't know.

Certainly not everyone that has crashed is because of that - LDR's crash was rediculous and there was nothing he could have done, for example.

But we can only speculate. This happens every year, all year around.
Only thing we can do is try to learn to avoid things that cause crashes so we don't end up on the list too.

What a lovely topic to wake up to :)

I crashed in September because of a few factors. Inexperience, mainly, and a lack of observation. I took the same corner that I do every day, at the same speed I always do, and there was gravel on the floor. Hot it and then bam.

I agree with Friz, and the point he made about inexperienced riders. There seems to be more and more people coming on, saying 'Hey, I'm taking my CBT in a week. I'm going to vlog my CBT, and carry on vlogging from day one' etc. When I first started riding, I could barely ride in a straight line, let alone focus on doing a piece to camera. A few people have noted that my riding skills, namely my observation, suffers while out vlogging.

People crash, it happens. Sometimes it's our fault. Sometimes its someone else's fault. One final point to make is that, even if the crash is someone else's fault, there can often be something to learn. And never stop learning.

Yes! I'm glad you've said this dude, since I've been telling you for months that we never stop learning. :)
I'm so glad you agree.

may i add one thing though to have a crash and come back is to be a true biker

No. I despise people saying that.

There are people who ride for 20+ years who have never crashed. You're saying that they're not true bikers.

Well I agree with tommy tbh. He isn't saying they arent true bikers. He is simply pointing out the obvious that you learn something when you crash. Most times it's people realising their limits. Or learning something that they didn't know before. But in some ways there is truth in that which is that someone who crashes knows more about their riding than someone who hasn't. So i guess you depsise me to? :)

I see where you're coming from, but I have to agree with Bikermole. You're not becoming a true biker by learning something from a crash - you can learn something by avoiding a crash too providing you're open to learning new things.

It shouldn't have to take a written off bike and a bunch of bruises to learn a lesson.

Well i'm not saying that the only way to become a biker is to crash, or that you are more of a biker when you crash, I am simply saying there is an element of that phrase that is true. You may know about one thing more than a crashless biker of 20+ without incident years. In the end though everyone learns something everyday. and I agree with you friz on you don't have to crash to learn something. I learnt to ride near to the centre of the road when you are leading a group in staggered formation. I crashed though and learnt this, but I could have done just by having a near miss. However other scenarios are different and can have different results meaning that you only learn something when you crash.

It would appear that this phrase is showing some quite conflicted views :)

i only ment it means you are a true biker in the first place to come back from somthing tramatic and the 20+ without a crash if they do crash they fall into the i have to get back on the horse mentalty if they do

I agree with this.

from my viewpoint of racing motocross and enduro for 12 years crashes are nothing unless you get broken, but i sort of wish i knew what it is like to come off on the road, if you get what i mean?
