I'm pretty sure the Liquid Image EGO does not use the Ambarella chip. Video quality of the EGO is as good as the GoPro as long as you are not moving. I've been playing around a bit with an EGO a friend let me borrow, it is not on the same level as a Hero2 or Hero3 when it comes to video capture. I do like the form-factor of the EGO though. Unfortunately, there's no external mic input.

Sorry to stray from OP's subject. Carry on. :D

It depends on the firmware version that the camera is running if you're referring to the jello effect. I played with all the firmwares. It's a bad camera anyways. It works if you only expect to take 29 minute clips. Throw a couple into your fairings to get multiangle and you have to remember to stop and restart the cameras after the preset time.

And yes, it uses ambarella. It's pretty vanilla hardware, Ambarella SoC, Atheros WLAN, Sony Exmor sensor (iirc). They don't look so out of place as a gopro, they're smaller and you can mod the camera to use external audio.

I stand corrected on the chip - got some misleading info on the 'net. Can you believe that?! It's not my camera, so I didn't want to mess with his settings too much. Which firmware version had the least "jello"?
